General Responsibilities: The primary focus of a Distribution Associate / Material Handler is to efficiently perform functions supporting movement of material throughout the facility, ultimately ensuring that a quality product is delivered to our customers. Tasks include picking and palletizing orders, pulling stock from the warehouse to supply the pick lines, staging outbound loads, loading and operating a wrapping machine, loading outbound loads, unloading inbound trailers, stocking product from the dock, labelling pallets, housekeeping and other duties as assigned by the shift supervisor or team lead.  A combination of hand held scanners, center riders and stand-up forklifts will be utilized.

Job Responsibilities:   

  • Ensure your personal safety and the safety of others working and travelling around you.
  • Pick pallets and load/unload items correctly, according to customer requirements.
  • Perform daily inspections of lift truck per inspection form.
  • Accurately complete paperwork for transactions.
  • Use and understand the electronic inventory management system (PKMS).
  • Properly assign and track daily time in the productivity system.
  • Perform housekeeping activities to maintain a clean work environment.
  • Adheres to Newell cultural initiatives and inspires others to do the same.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors, team leaders and trainers.

 

Qualifications:

           

  • Has a ‘safety first’ outlook and is willing to keep oneself and others safe.
  • Able to bend, squat, twist, climb, reach and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Able to stand, walk, and enter/exit machinery as needed to perform job related tasks.
  • Previous fork lift certification or the ability to be trained to operate a fork lift.
  • Self-motivated to work in a fast-paced environment with little supervision.
  • Strong communicator who works well with others on a team.
  • Stays organized, focused, and has a positive attitude.
  • Coachable with a willingness to train and grow with the company.
  • Follows written and verbal instructions.
