In this role, the Associate Sourcing Manager – Chemicals, will develop strategies and execution for Newell Brands’ Portfolio of Business Units within the chemicals category which includes dyes, solvents, additives, dispersions and similar commodities. There will be a primary focus on driving Newell Brands’ key sourcing metrics which include: Productivity, Working Capital Improvements, Lead Time, Service Level, and Quality.  This role will work in a cross-functional team environment and provide support to various management teams to deliver on the goals and metrics of Newell Brands.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the relationships with preferred suppliers
  • Research, identify, and qualify best value sources of supply
  • Deliver 3-5% YOY productivity goals for assigned commodities
  • Increase DPO in accordance with working capital objectives
  • Reduce lead times in assigned category
  • Support day to day activities in the following areas: Raw Material Discontinuation, NPD Activities, Quality, Manufacturing Supplier Performance Goals, Make vs. Buy Analysis, and acts as the point of accountability for escalation and arbitration for supplier related issues.
  • Rationalize the supplier base through the solicitation of competitive bids
  • Develop a knowledge of domestic and international markets in order to find new sources of supply
  • Coordinate with the supply chain department to ensure that suppliers adhere to the required delivery schedules. Take appropriate actions to maintain on-time deliveries of approved materials.
  • General supplier management including communicating and resolving daily issues between internal organizations and suppliers, leading weekly cross-functional team calls to cover open issues, actively working/monitoring quality and performance issues.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, procurement, supply chain, engineering, or related field required
  • 3-5 years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations
  • Consumer products experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience of the chemical industry preferred
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent problem-solving and analytical skills (root cause analysis)
  • Demonstrates competency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Power BI)
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
  • Strong Project Management skills and experience
  • Self-motivated and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Strong negotiations skills
