Position Summary

The Director, Global Brand Marketing is a critical leadership role responsible for the overall performance and strategic direction of the Ball and Bernardin portfolio, representing more than $200MM in annual revenue. Operating as the general manager of the business, this leader owns P&L performance, annual business planning, long-term growth strategy, portfolio management, innovation, and integrated marketing execution.

As steward of one of North America's most iconic brands, the Director will lead development of the global brand strategy, cultivate deep consumer understanding, and drive excellence in the annual canning season while identifying new opportunities to expand the category and accelerate growth. The ideal candidate combines strong brand-building expertise, commercial acumen, innovation leadership, and financial discipline with a proven track record of growing consumer brands and leading high-performing teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Own full P&L accountability for the Ball and Bernardin portfolio, delivering annual revenue, profit, and market share objectives.
  • Develop the annual brand plan and lead the cross functional brand leadership team to deliver annual brand goals
  • Drive portfolio optimization, complexity reduction, and productivity initiatives to improve profitability and long-term value creation.
  • Serve as the global steward of the Ball and Bernardin brands, ensuring consistency of positioning, identity, and consumer experience across all channels and markets.
  • Develop and evolve long-term brand growth strategies rooted in consumer insights, category trends, and marketplace dynamics.
  • Own development and execution of marketing plans, including communications, media, content, retail activation, and eCommerce strategy.
  • Partner with Sales, Category Management, and customer teams to deliver Distribution, Shelving, Merchandising, and Pricing (DSMP) objectives.
  • Drive flawless execution of the annual canning season, ensuring alignment across forecasting, demand generation, merchandising, and promotional activation.
  • Own development and execution of a three-year innovation pipeline aligned with the brand growth strategy.
  • Partner with R&D, Design, Supply Chain, and commercial teams to successfully develop and launch new products.
  • Lead portfolio strategy, including innovation, renovation, and category expansion opportunities.
  • Partner with consumer insights to determine the appropriate consumer research needed to support business strategies and deliver winning propositions to market.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing marketing organization.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Influence and align senior stakeholders across functions, geographies, and levels of the organization.
  • Build organizational capability through talent development, succession planning, and coaching.

 

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 12+ years of brand management experience including deep marketing, innovation and general management experience.
  • Demonstrated success owning a significant P&L and delivering consistent revenue and profit growth.
  • Proven experience developing and executing annual business plans and long-range growth strategies.
  • Strong innovation leadership experience with a track record of successfully commercializing new products and platforms.
  • Deep expertise in consumer insights, brand strategy, portfolio management, and omnichannel marketing.
  • Experience leading highly seasonal businesses and executing critical commercial selling periods.
  • Strong financial acumen, including forecasting, pricing strategy, promotional optimization, margin management, and investment prioritization.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence complex cross-functional organizations.
  • Experience leveraging consumer insights, analytics, market trends, and business performance data to drive decision making and growth.
  • Demonstrated success attracting, developing, and retaining top talent.
  • Experience within consumer products, food, home, outdoor, durable goods, or adjacent consumer categories preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
