GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Demand Leader is a high-visibility role owning demand planning for large strategic retail customers. This position ensures the demand planning process delivers a reliable, actionable forecast as a primary input to supply planning and the S&OP process.
- Partner with Business Units, Sales, Operations, Supply Planning, and Finance through S&OP to align the forecast with financial plans.
- Define and monitor key metrics to drive process conformance, problem solving, and continuous improvement.
- Identify and quantify demand risks; review gaps with Customer and Trade teams and develop countermeasures.
- Manage SKU/DC/customer inputs for replenishment, promotions, events, seasonality, and item adds/deletes; validate plans with customers.
- Prepare and present the demand plan (assumptions, drivers, and risks) in S&OP Demand Review meetings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Forecasting & Analytics

- Create and maintain forecasting models for each item at each stocking location and for the customer within designated product lines to achieve forecast accuracy goals.
- Execute the demand planning process by clarifying ambiguity, addressing bias, and delivering forecasts of unconstrained customer-level demand.
- Review system-generated statistical forecasts for account-level SKU/DC inconsistencies; adjust across the planning horizon using prior shipments, POS data, business trends, and upcoming promotions.
- S&OP Collaboration & Communication
- Lead forecast collaboration with Customer teams to provide a baseline dollar forecast for lower-level forecast alignment.
- Communicate with plants, Supply Planning, Trade, Sales, and Finance to ensure translation of the demand plan across and through the organization.
- Prepare and present the demand plan and its assumptions, drivers, and risks during S&OP Demand Review meetings.
- Promotions, Events & Customer Plans
- Ensure all discrete forecasts are appropriately added to the system, including promotions, events, planograms (POGs), discontinued and new products, and version changes.
- Master Data & Lifecycle Management
- Manage demand history to realign forecasts based on item version changes, customer entity changes, and related master data updates.
- Update forecasts to support item conversions (run-out) from one item to another.
- Continuous Improvement
- Develop and monitor process metrics to drive conformance, problem solving, and improvement.
- Identify highest causes of forecast error by researching issues, determining root cause, and driving corrective actions.
- Support growth and innovation as a thought leader in developing, monitoring, and improving the demand plan.

- Contribute to the success of the overall business by representing supply chain interests in cross-functional project teams to implement changes to business processes
- Operating as a strategic thought leader/change agent working collaboratively with the supply chain teams on priority initiatives that optimize service, inventory and cost for the total value chain
- Identifies opportunities for improvement, makes constructive suggestions for change and drive for results
- The right candidate will need to build and manage relationships with customers planning, supply chain, and order intake

REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Certifications, Skills)
- Education

- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Management, or related technical field.
- Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience, including roles in demand planning, inventory management, supply/production planning, and/or data analytics.
- Experience working in a CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) organization or business-to-business supplier organization.
- Technical Skills & Tools
- Technical understanding of ERP or bolt-on forecasting systems (SAP IBP preferred).
- Expertise in data acquisition and spreadsheet/database development and analysis.
- Proficiency with Excel, Access, other MS Office applications, reporting/data warehouse tools, and forecasting systems (SAP APO/IBP or Power BI experience a plus).
