Reports to: Senior Manager Brand Finance
Location: Atlanta, GA
Role Description
Newell Brands is seeking a Manager, Brand Finance to support the U.S. and LATAM market. This role will partner closely with Brand Marketing and Sales teams to drive profitable growth through innovation and strategic initiatives. The position will play a critical role by contributing to the new product development process, evaluating investment opportunities, assessing effectiveness and ROI.
In addition, this role will lead forecasting and budgeting activities, provide comprehensive financial analysis across the full P&L, and deliver strategic insights with a strong CFO mindset to help guide business decisions and optimize financial performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supports brand marketing with long-range (12mo+) business & financial planning focused on profitable growth, brand strategy & new product development
- Supports the new product development process alongside Brand Marketing, Brand Finance, and Engineering by assisting with financial projections for new products along with post-mortem analysis of previously launched projects
- Supports marketing ROI analytics and collaborates with Brand Management to manage, track and optimize spending
- Participate in monthly forecast preparation and support the annual budgeting and brand strategic planning processes by partnering closely with Brand Marketing, Customer Sales Planning, Supply Chain, and regional teams to align financial objectives with business strategies. Assist with month-end and quarter-end close activities including variance commentary and reporting
- Partner with operations finance to summarize impacts of standard costs and manufacturing variances for key material costs.
- Foster positive and collaborative relationships within finance team, cross-functional and regional leadership.
- Identify gaps, and lead improvement projects, partnering with key stakeholders. Proactively owns, identifies, and solves issues assigned to them.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, as timeline to action may be tight and require significant cross-functional coordination.
- Strong business acumen and ability to share business knowledge with non-financial individuals.
- Drive automation and scalability of financial processes and reporting tools
- Train cross-functional teams such as brand development and brand marketing teams on financial file preparation as needed as well as reporting tools.
- Provide strategic financial guidance on trade spending, advertising, and promotional investments through detailed analysis of specific business cases, evaluating performance outcomes, and identifying potential opportunities and risks.
- Ad hoc projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience Preferred for This Role:
- Must be fluent in both English and Spanish
- BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Management or Economics
- 6-9 years of relevant experience in Finance with progressively increasing levels of responsibility
- Experience in a manufacturing or CPG environment preferred.
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills with the ability to distill complex data into clear, actionable insights
- Broad-based business acumen (FP&A, Cost Accounting, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain)
- Experience in commercial finance with strong working knowledge of Volume/Price/Mix analysis, Trade Promotions and Advertising and Promotional Spend is desired.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate with a customer-focused mindset to partner and collaborate achieving a common goal with cross-functional business partners.
- Results driven behavior with sense of urgency and with the ability to recommend and make decisions quickly.
- Ability to improve processes and apply continuous-improvement mindset to day-to-day activities.
- Advanced Excel skills, highly analytical and detail oriented
- Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to work with a high degree of autonomy.
- Experience with Hyperion (HFM), SAP and Power BI planning systems strongly preferred.
- Self-starter mentality with a focus on accuracy, accountability, and ownership
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), computer literate.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills — able to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities
- Self-motivated in achieving goals and completing routine tasks.
- Ability to work as part of a team and interface with others across all levels of the organization, work independently and as part of a team to solve problems given limited resources and time, have a strong work ethic, and adhere to deadlines
