This position is responsible for managing the Engineering, Reliability, and Automation (ERA) functions focused on injection molding tooling across North American manufacturing sites. The Manager will support strategic initiatives in tooling design, reliability engineering, and automation integration to improve productivity, reduce downtime, and enhance manufacturing capabilities. This role will collaborate with site engineering, maintenance, and global ERA teams to ensure alignment with corporate standards and innovation goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage injection molding tooling engineering projects across North American sites
- Support the development and implementation of tooling reliability strategies to reduce downtime and improve performance
- Assist in automation integration into tooling processes, including robotics and smart sensors
- Review and provide input on tooling designs to ensure compliance with corporate standards
- Provide technical guidance in tooling material selection, design optimization, and lifecycle management
- Support AIM (Advanced Initiative Management) activities, including:
- FMEA development
- Design reviews
- CQV for new tooling and equipment (FAT & SAT planning)
- Analyze tooling performance data and identify opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to drive continuous improvement and cost reduction
- Communicate project updates and tooling initiatives to senior ERA leadership
- Partner with global ERA teams to share best practices and align on tooling innovation
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Solid understanding of injection molding tooling design and manufacturing processes
- Experience in reliability engineering and predictive maintenance
- Familiarity with automation technologies, including robotics and sensor integration
- Working knowledge of materials science related to tooling applications
- Proficiency in CAD and simulation tools for tooling design
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities across functions
- Ability to build basic financial cases for tooling and automation investments
- Results-driven with sound decision-making capabilities
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to work in manufacturing environments, including exposure to high temperatures and physical activity
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Molding Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in injection molding tooling and engineering roles
- Experience with automation integration and reliability programs
- Understanding of tooling systems, basic PLC programming, and system integration
