Position Overview:
The Manager, Global Automation Operations - Engineering, will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of warehouse operations, processes, and performance across distribution sites. This role focuses on optimizing workflows, improving productivity, and ensuring consistent execution of operational standards across the network.
This role partners closely with Operations, Engineering, IT, and Analytics teams to analyze processes, identify improvement opportunities, and implement practical solutions that enhance efficiency, safety, and cost performance. The position combines industrial engineering discipline, operational execution, and data-driven decision making to drive measurable improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety
- Partner with site Operations, Engineering, and Safety teams to ensure processes are executed safely and in compliance with standards
- Support adherence to PEAK and safety requirements including lockout/tagout (LOTO), equipment safeguards, and safe operating procedures
- Validate that workflows and process changes do not introduce safety risks
- Evaluate process design and material flow to identify ergonomic risks and unsafe work conditions
- Participate in incident and near-miss reviews to support root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Ensure SOPs and standard work documentation reflect safe operating practices
Digitization
- Analyze operational data to identify bottlenecks, variability, and inefficiencies in receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping processes
- Perform throughput, capacity, and flow analysis using data to support operational decision making
- Build and sustain dashboards, KPIs, and reporting frameworks to track operational performance
- Ensure data accuracy and alignment to a single source of truth for decision making
- Leverage tools such as Power BI, WMS, and other systems to improve visibility and insight
Operations
- Design, analyze, and optimize warehouse layouts, workflows, and material flow processes using industrial engineering principles
- Conduct time and motion studies and work measurement analysis to establish labor standards and productivity benchmarks
- Develop standard work and process documentation to ensure repeatable and consistent execution
- Evaluate material flow and handling methods to reduce non-value-added movement and improve efficiency
- Partner with site leadership to embed standardized operating practices into daily routines
- Support deployments, process changes, and operational improvements across sites
- Ensure processes are executed consistently with defined standards and expectations
Optimization
- Develop and implement process improvements to reduce waste, cost, and cycle times using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
- Support capacity planning, space utilization, and throughput modeling initiatives
- Apply root cause analysis, process mapping, and basic statistical techniques to identify improvement opportunities
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks to improve operational throughput and flow
- Apply structured problem-solving techniques (DMAIC or similar) to resolve process inefficiencies
- Evaluate opportunities to incorporate automation or technology where it adds measurable value
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
- 5–8+ years of experience in warehouse operations, supply chain operations, or process improvement roles
- Experience with industrial engineering methods such as time studies, process design, and workflow optimization
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to travel up to ~50%
