Job Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Fashion Designer to lead category‑level fashion design for Baby gear. You’ll translate consumer insights and trend research into compelling fashion strategies, drive advanced fabric development and bring concepts to life with compelling 2D/3D visualization leveraging Gen AI to enhance efficiency, creativity, and impact.
This role is a senior individual contributor that owns programs from concept through production, influences Fashion team delivery, and partners closely with Soft Goods Design, Industrial Design, Engineering, Sourcing and Marketing to deliver beautiful, safe, and manufacturable products.
Responsibilities
- Own seasonal Fashion direction for assigned baby‑gear programs; define palettes, patterns, trims, and material stories that strengthen brand identity and differentiation.
- Lead trend research (fashion, lifestyle, retail, cultural) and synthesize insights into designs and presentations for cross‑functional review.
- Manage color strategy end‑to‑end, build palettes, create standards, review lab dips and approve production samples across multiple substrates.
- Produce advanced visualizations and renderings to communicate design intent
- Ensure compliance with juvenile product safety and quality requirements in partnership with Quality and Regulatory
- Lead 1–2 programs at a time with accountability for calendar, risk mitigation, vendor communication, and cross‑functional alignment from concept through production.
- Support Associates and Staff through reviews, tutorials, and feedback on color, print, fabric, and documentation; help raise the bar on craft and process.
- Leverage Generative‑AI tools to accelerate exploration (mood/story boards, 2D studies, prompt‑based material/print ideation) and to improve documentation quality and efficiency.
- Represent the design function in cross-category reviews, providing expertise in fashion-driven consumer engagement and competitive positioning.
- Contribute to process excellence: maintain PLM hygiene, material library integrity, naming conventions, and best practices for fashion integration in baby gear.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, CMF, Industrial Design, or related field.
- 7+ years of relevant experience in corporate or consulting design; juvenile/baby gear or adjacent soft goods experience preferred.
- Portfolio demonstrating advanced CMF development, trend translation, and refined execution for multi‑material products.
- High color acuity; confident working across knits/wovens, coatings, foams, and trims.
- Ability to travel at least once per quarter
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Advanced Aesthetic Sensibilities mastery in color/pattern/material selection and detailing; balances design POV with manufacturability and cost.
- Champions Consumer Empathy Converts insights into clear design choices that improve comfort, usability, and perceived quality for parents and babies.
- Drives Trend Alignment Leads seasonal research and converts macro trends into CMF strategies and retailer‑relevant assortments.
- Advanced Fabric Development Owns material briefs, testing, and approval from concept to validation; identifies sustainability opportunities.
- Advanced Color Strategy Builds cohesive palettes across substrates, manages lab‑dip/standard processes and approves to production.
- Clear Design Context Crafts concise narratives and presentations that influence cross‑functional decisions. Shows strong storytelling and visual hierarchy. Advanced LLM use. Proficient with ChatGPT, MS CoPilot or equivalents
- Broad 2D Design skills utilizing Gen AI exploration. Advanced editing and composition. Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, Kaledo, Midjourney, Vizcom or equivalents
- Advanced 3D Design visualization and rendering; collaborates on digital prototypes and CMF application in 3D to reduce iterations. Proficient with Keyshot, Substance, Kaedim or equivalents
