Job Summary:

 

This position reports to the Director of Brand Finance for the Writing segment and will partner with the brand development team, sales planning, and operations finance teams to drive profitable growth for the business. This role will serve as the brand finance lead for the Sharpie Brand and will be responsible for providing enhanced business partnering via financial insights that guide choices and decisions. This role will also help support the new product development process, with a focus on cost and profitability of new product launches.  The applicant should be comfortable working in a fast paced, flexible environment. The ability to work across teams effectively is critical to the success of this position.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Leads long-range business & financial planning focused on profitable growth, brand strategy & new product development.
  • Supports Tier 1 & 2 new product development process including approval stage gates, takes ownership for financial projections, actively manages the product lifecycle with business partners, and performs relevant postmortem analysis.
  • Attends project update meetings, brand demand reviews, innovation & gate meetings (amongst others) as the finance spokesperson, helping define opportunities and highlight risks that could impact the Sharpie business.
  • Support preparation of brand corporate deliverables such as the monthly brand letter and the bi-annual innovation review (amongst others).
  • Understand sales & profitability across the Sharpie portfolio of categories, products, and customers.
  • Understands competition exceedingly well (pricing, cost structure and market tactics)
  • Provides financial evaluation and approval of price and promotional cadence (depth, frequency, and accrual rates to deliver revenue). Optimizes US commercialization activities with sales and sales planning.
  • Proactively owns, identifies, and solves issues.
  • Complete other ad hoc analysis in support of the Sharpie brand (as needed)

 

Key Qualifications:

 

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • CPA desired
  • 10 to 12 years of experience in finance/accounting, preferably in a Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) environment.
  • Significant experience with SAP is strongly preferred.

  • Executive presence: Comfortable working with and influencing senior leaders.
