Senior Manager, Brand Finance – Technical Apparel

The Outdoor & Recreation segment of Newell Brands is looking for a Senior Manager, Brand Finance to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Marmot® and ExOfficio® brands. This is a high‑impact, highly visible role at the intersection of brand strategy, innovation, and commercial execution, with direct influence on global performance and profitability.
As the finance business partner to Brand Leadership, Merchandising and Go‑To‑Market teams, you will translate data into insights, insights into decisions, and decisions into profitable, sustainable growth. What You’ll Do
You will own and shape the financial narrative of our Technical Apparel portfolio, partnering closely across functions and regions.
Strategic & Commercial Leadership
- Own and manage global brand P&Ls, providing clear insights into performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Serve as a trusted finance partner to Brand Management, Market Development & Planning, Sales, and Supply Chain, influencing key business decisions.
- Provide thought leadership to support profitable growth strategies at the brand, category, and product level.
Performance Management & Insights
- Lead monthly performance reviews, explaining results versus forecast, budget, and prior year, including volume, mix, pricing, trade spending, and A&P.
- Monitor marketplace performance using POS data, market share, and category trends; translate insights into recommended actions.
- Drive gross margin optimization through pricing, customer agreements, mix management, cost improvements, and innovation.
Planning, Forecasting & Investment Analysis
- Prepare and consolidate monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and strategic plans.
- Evaluate advertising, promotional, and activation investments using pre‑ and post‑ROI analytics.
- Support commercialization and go‑to‑market analysis, including trade rate investment controls.
Innovation & Portfolio Optimization
- Partner in the New Product Development (Innovation & Renovation) process, supporting forecasts, financials, and return metrics.
- Optimize assortment and portfolio performance using SKU‑level analysis, lifecycle expectations, and market trends.
- In Partnership with GM and Brand Management team, manage and approve pricing architecture of apparel and equipment assortments.
- Direct the setting of product margin guardrails, ensuring profitable growth.
Operations & Working Capital
- Partner with Operations Finance to assess impacts of product and logistics costs as well as productivity initiatives and sourcing alternatives
- Support working capital optimization, including inventory management, excess & obsolete analysis, and sell‑through recommendations.
- Through cross functional partnership with planning teams, approve seasonal investments in inventory to drive to overall sales targets.
Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure strong governance, controls, and compliance with corporate and external requirements.
- Identify capability or process gaps and lead improvement initiatives that enhance decision‑making and execution.
What You Bring
Experience & Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, ideally within apparel or consumer goods.
- Broad financial acumen across brand finance, commercial finance, FP&A, sales, and operations.
- Strong command of project valuation, volume/price/mix analysis, trade promotions, and A&P spend.
Skills & Capabilities
- Highly analytical, with the ability to synthesize large, complex data sets into clear insights.
- Advanced Excel skills, experience with SAP (ECC and AFS), Hyperion (HFM), and Power BI strongly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence across functions.
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity, autonomy, and a fast‑paced, consumer‑focused mindset.
- Continuous improvement orientation with a bias for action and results.
