The Senior Manager, Analytics – Category Development plays a critical role in advancing Newell’s Category Leadership capability across all segments and customers. Reporting to the Senior Director, Category Development, this role supports the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of analytics tools, processes, and insights that enable Newell’s Category 1st Selling Approach. Success requires not only analytical expertise but also the ability to drive capability development, influence cross-functional partners, and enable customer-facing excellence in line reviews, joint business planning, and innovation sell-in.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic analytics partner to all Segment and Sales teams to ensure appropriate tools and datasets are leveraged to drive meaningful insights and the strategic ability to identify and optimize sales and business opportunities.
  • Lead the central Category Leadership team in delivering customer data & insights as listed below (but not limited to):
    • Customer data analysis to support line reviews, distribution, shelving, merchandising, and pricing opportunities.
    • Customer / Buyer reporting and insights (non-advisor)
    • Promotion and event support
    • JBP & Customer meeting preparation
    • Sales drivers analysis and market share diagnosis
    • Ad hoc store and item level sales analysis
    • Trip and basket analysis
  • Foster the segment and sales category teams’ analytical capabilities, skills with tools, understanding of new data sources, and how to tell stories with data. Stays abreast of industry trends and innovations.
  • Partner with Market Development & Planning and Sales leadership to embed analytics into annual planning, customer strategies, and commercial initiatives
  • Lead the design and deployment of AI-enabled and advanced analytical tools to improve Newell’s ability to win distribution, shelving, merchandising, and pricing opportunities.
  • Train and upskill analytics and category development teams on best-in-class tools, methodologies, and storytelling approaches.
 

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, business, or related field required; MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of analytics experience with proven impact in CPG or retail environments.
  • 5+ years using POS, panel, and shopper data for category insights, share diagnostics, and promotional analysis (e.g., Circana)
  • 3+ years navigating retailer portals to extract actionable data for customer planning (e.g., Retail Link, 84.51, Vendor IQ, SOLYS, AVP, Scintilla)
  • Advanced expertise with BI tools (Power BI preferred, Tableau) and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Azure, Databricks, and machine learning a plus.
  • Familiarity with category planning modules, strategic sourcing frameworks, and performance dashboards
  • 4+ years leading teams with a track record of capability building and talent development.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect analytics to category leadership strategies, customer planning, and commercial transformation.
  • Strong project planning, organizational, and communication skills; ability to present complex data in a clear, compelling manner.
  • Ability to lead through influence across functions and geographies, driving measurable outcomes under tight timeframes.
