Role Summary
The Senior Manager, Gen AI Design is responsible for shaping and scaling how generative artificial intelligence is applied across design and marketing at Newell Brands. This role blends design leadership applied AI expertise, and people management to drive meaningful improvements in creative workflows, efficiency, and innovation.
This leader will define the Gen AI strategy for design and marketing, lead the development of AI‑enabled tools and solutions, and partner closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure enterprise‑ready adoption. The role also manages a multidisciplinary team of designers, technologists, and engineers and serves as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders on the future of AI‑driven design.
Key Responsibilities
Gen AI Strategy & Enterprise Enablement
- Lead the Gen AI strategy for design and marketing, aligning initiatives with enterprise priorities and measurable business outcomes
- Partner with Design, Marketing, IT, Engineering, Legal, and Security to identify, prioritize, and scale high‑impact AI use cases
- Develop and execute roadmaps for AI adoption, including capability building, pilot testing, ROI measurement, and enterprise rollout
- Establish best practices for AI‑assisted design, including concepting, visualization, and storytelling
- Present strategy, progress, and recommendations to VP‑level and executive stakeholders using clear, data‑driven storytelling
AI Solutions & Technical Leadership
- Lead a team responsible for building and deploying custom Gen AI tools, agents, and automations to support design and marketing workflows
- Set technical direction and solution architecture to ensure scalability, maintainability, and enterprise integration
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize development, and deliver solutions that meet user needs
- Evaluate build‑vs‑buy decisions and optimize the mix of internal development and external tools
- Ensure AI solutions integrate effectively with existing platforms and workflows
People Leadership, Adoption & Influence
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team across creative and technical domains
- Foster a culture of experimentation, collaboration, and continuous learning
- Drive AI adoption through enablement, training, workshops, and hands‑on engagement
- Translate emerging Gen AI trends into actionable opportunities for the organization
- Represent AI‑driven design innovation through internal showcases, thought leadership, and storytelling
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in design, design technology, software development, or innovation roles
- 3+ years of people leadership experience, including management of technical or engineering resources
- Familiarity with evaluation tooling and telemetry dashboards
- Hands‑on experience developing, leading, or scaling Gen AI‑powered tools, solutions, or workflows
- Strong ability to connect technology initiatives to business outcomes
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable presenting to executive leadership
- Proven ability to nurture talent, drive consensus and thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
Preferred
- Experience building internal Gen AI tools, agents, or automation workflows
- Familiarity with creative and productivity platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft 365, or Workfront
- Experience leading training programs, workshops, or change adoption initiatives
- Passion for design, technology, and continuous learning
