Position Overview
The Senior Corporate Tax Manager will play a critical role within Newell Brands’ Global Tax organization, with primary responsibility for U.S. federal income tax matters and global transfer pricing. This position will partner closely with finance, legal, supply chain, and regional tax teams to ensure tax compliance, optimize tax outcomes, and support business initiatives across Newell Brands’ global footprint.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical tax expertise with practical business judgment, experience in a complex multinational environment, and the ability to manage projects and external advisors effectively.
Key Responsibilities
U.S. Federal Income Tax
- Manage and review U.S. federal income tax compliance, including Forms 1120, extensions, and related disclosures
- Support the preparation and review of quarterly and annual federal tax provisions under ASC 740
- Analyze and document federal tax positions, including R&D credits, interest expense limitations, FDII, GILTI, BEAT, and foreign tax credits
- Monitor and assess the impact of U.S. tax law changes and IRS guidance; communicate implications to leadership
- Lead or support federal tax audits, including managing IRS examinations and related correspondence
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on tax planning initiatives, restructurings, and business transactions
Global Transfer Pricing
- Oversee Newell Brands’ global transfer pricing framework in coordination with regional tax teams
- Manage annual transfer pricing documentation, including master file, local files, and country-specific requirements
- Partner with business units to evaluate intercompany pricing for products, services, intangibles, and financing arrangements
- Support transfer pricing aspects of supply chain changes, business transformations, and M&A activity
- Coordinate with external advisors on benchmarking studies, policy updates, and controversy matters
- Assist with transfer pricing audits, inquiries, and dispute resolution with tax authorities globally
Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as a trusted tax advisor to finance, legal, and operational teams
- Mentor and review work of junior tax professionals, as applicable
- Drive process improvements, standardization, and automation within tax compliance and documentation
- Support global tax strategy initiatives and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA, JD, or Master’s in Tax strongly preferred
- 8+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or a combination thereof
- Strong expertise in U.S. federal corporate income tax
- Hands-on experience with global transfer pricing concepts and documentation
- Experience working in a multinational, publicly traded company environment
- Solid understanding of ASC 740 (income tax accounting)
- Strong project management, analytical, and communication skills
Preferred
- Experience supporting global consumer products or manufacturing organizations
- Exposure to international tax concepts (e.g., GILTI, Subpart F, withholding taxes)
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Hyperion) and tax provision/compliance software (OneSource)
- Prior involvement in tax audits or controversy matters
