This role can be based anywhere in the US within 2 hours of a Newell manufacturing facility.
The evolution of the Newell Supply Chain (NSC) includes a focus on driving productivity through building capability in people, processes, and technology. PEAK, Newell’s branded improvement strategy, is fundamental to that goal. The Industrial Engineering and Operations team will help to achieve the productivity targets within Supply Chain through a global management and knowledge sharing of Industrial Engineering, LSO and Other PEAK PAC tools, processes and project management. As an integral part of the Supply Chain communities of practice, this role will be highly visible with major impact across all Newell Business Units.
The Industrial Engineering (IE) Sr. Analyst will be responsible for supporting continuous improvement projects as well as working on cross-functional teams to coach productivity tools and processes across Newell Supply Chain. Continuous improvement efforts will focus on making sustainable gains in OEE, quality, safety, cost, and delivery. Methods for achieving and sustaining improvements will be based on Newell PEAK principles including Six Sigma, TPM and LEAN. This role will also assist in facilitation of the CI strategy and capability deployment in the factories and Warehouses to support business imperatives through the effective deployment of LSO PEAK systems, capabilities, and methodology. The IE Sr. Analyst will need to collaborate closely with the PAC team on improvement methodology, as well as Business Units, factory, and other internal partners to achieve the project objectives aligned with the business needs. The team member will be responsible to support projects of a broad nature while exercising good judgment and creativity and achieve objective performance improvement results through capability building, coaching, and deployment of Lean and Six Sigma (DMAIC) tools and systems. The team member needs to be able to carry out appropriate financial analysis to validate/support proposals and gain support of key stakeholders.
Specific Responsibilities:
Help Drive the Lean Six Sigma Optimization PAC & Productivity Savings Projects
- Work with team to identify, charter, and co-lead/lead Industrial Engineering and improvement initiatives - delivering the project results on time
- Ensure team follows the project management process to provide project updates to the site leadership team and project stakeholders highlighting the current status, adherence to the project time plan, work accomplished, quick wins, points of escalation, elements of risk and the associated mitigation plans
- Support the development of project teams on key skills to drive improvement
- Analyze given data and operating conditions; implement changes and follow-up on results by involving key responsible people (i.e. sponsor, process owner, operator)
- Support the sustainability programs to maintain the achieved savings, to complete additional training, to detect further savings opportunities
- Support the development of new efficient systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, and information, to make a product or provide a service.
- Analyze, design, and implement improved manufacturing and service processes, resource allocation and proper inventory controls
- Deliver coaching, training, analysis, and project leadership for Focused Improvement and for Value Stream Optimization. Including DMAIC, SMED, Kaizen, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work and Visual Management.
- Co-facilitate meetings, Kaizen events, and training workshops to solve urgent business needs, while building the capability of the key internal resources needed to deliver on critical initiatives.
- Assist in the Development of all material for LSO PAC, including training material, templates, scorecards, tools
- Provide analytics and business intelligence to support project selection, root-cause analysis, and project validation.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent degree
- 1- 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing / warehouse role or in a Central Supply Chain type role with project experience
