Sr. Global Buyer- Sourced Finished Goods

Reports To: Global Purchasing Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW:
A “can-do” attitude along with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and cross functional collaboration is essential for success in this position.
This position will be responsible for the global purchasing and network planning of sourced finished goods for the Writing Division. More specifically, this position will have the responsibility for our Sourced Finished Good suppliers in China, India, and US and will be focused primarily on 0-24 month purchasing horizon. This person will be responsible for new product development, global purchasing execution, vendor management, short- and long-term planning of global requirements and capacities, seamless execution of vendor moves, global network inventory and optimization. Key measures of success included delivering service globally, projecting and managing capacities and risk, supporting our productivity initiatives, execution of new product to launch on time and inventory metrics. In addition to management of the Global Supply Chain, the position will interface daily with Senior Supply Chain Leadership, Strategic Sourcing, and regional planning teams.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Day-to-day execution of purchasing responsibilities for sourced finished good items to each region, including PO creation and management, vendor communication, and regional planner communication.
- Work with regional planners on expedites and de-expedites to ensure service levels are met and optimal inventory is maintained.
- Ensure supplier invoices are in accordance with purchase orders and resolve issues as necessary.
- Create rough cut capacity plans based on global requirements and escalate issues and requirements for prebuilds.
- Understand regional back to school seasonality and requirements and ensure prebuilds plans are in place for success.
- Maintain appropriate SAP parameters and updates required to maintain global best practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Assess and mitigate supply chain risks related to supplier performance, geopolitical factors, and market fluctuations.
- Manage vendor delivery performance and analyze the delay root cause to improve on-time delivery and flexibility.
- Identifying and communicating forward-looking vendor constraints and actively escalating them in our S&OE process.
- Effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels to provide updates, insights, and recommendations related to sourcing and procurement activities.
- Support Sourcing product transition projects to ensure maximum productivity savings.
- Work cross functionally with Marketing, Engineering, Operations, and other project team members to introduce new products on-time with appropriate inventory positioning and capacity to sustainably service customers for full product life cycle.
- Serve as the supply chain representative for all meetings associated with new product launches, provide updates, follow critical path timeline and escalate risk.
- Responsible to manage global sku portfolio including adjusting of sku statuses, network optimization, inventory management and risk, product line exits and reactivation.
- Plan, organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks to perform job functions in an orderly, efficient manner.
- Work professionally in a team environment and independently as necessary.
- Responsible for training new hires on processes and systems.
- Train and educate team members where required.
- Provide reports, information, analysis, as required, in a timely and professional manner.
- Active participation in our S&OP process by escalating any known challenges in the Supplier Manufacturing Review Meeting.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in purchasing, supplier management practices, and operational efficiencies.
- Exemplify and drive Newell’s culture within Supply Chain.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
- Four-year college degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related Analytical Discipline
- 5-7 years of supply chain and manufacturing work experience ideally in supply chain or operations for a CPG, durable, or professional products company
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:
- International purchasing/procurement experience
- Self-starter who acts with a sense of urgency to drive results
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks
- Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel + Power Bi and Power Point)
- SAP (APO/ECC) experience preferred
- Ability to listen and communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization
- This role will require building accountable collaboration across regions and internal functions
- Continuous Improvement Mindset, with the ability to improve processes and gain efficiencies
- Strong analytical skills demonstrating success in problem solving
OFFICE REQUIREMENTS:
- Hybrid office schedule requirement – Office 3 days/week & Remote 2 days/week
