Job Summary:

The Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer is an experienced, driven and impactful member of a team of quality professionals that are responsible for product quality in the Writing division.

 

This position will:

  • Drive quality into Writing new product, through proactive use of quality best practices in the development process
  • Maintain the quality of existing products by monitoring the voice of the customer and driving continuous improvement
  • Drive effective corrective and preventative action of quality issues, with strong root cause identification techniques and skills
  • Coordinate with and influence Supply Chain, R&D and Brand Marketing
  • Adhere to Newell’s values

 

Job Responsibilities by Capability:

Technical Quality – 40%

  • Perform Quality processes of NPD (FMEA, APQP, PPAP)
  • Qualify supplier changes of location, equipment, material etc.
  • Quality productivity projects
  • Drive continuous improvement of product quality
  • Implement Quality procedures, as required

Problem Solving – 30%

  • Own and resolve product quality issues
  • Select and lead appropriate problem solving techniques for quick resolution
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturing to identify root cause and implement corrective action

Business Acumen – 10%

  • Track key performance indicators to assess quality performance and drive improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate and proactively communicate

Technical Mastery – 10%

  • Perform statistical data analysis
  • Utilize best practice in root cause analysis and validation

Communication – 10%

  • Clearly summarize data to communicate findings and recommendations
  • Keep key stakeholders informed of Quality or timing risks

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, materials or closely related field required
  • 5-7 years of Quality experience (consumer products Industry experience preferred)

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated competence with problem solving and process validation methodologies
  • Experienced background in various processes.  Specific knowledge of molding, automated assembly, electronic assembly and compounding preferred
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills are essential for dealing with all levels of internal corporation, external suppliers and customers
  • CQM and/or CQE preferred
