Function: New Product Creation (NPC) – Manufacturing Development & Commercialization (MDC)

Location: Balneário Piçarras, SC - 100% on-site

Reports to: Director, Manufacturing Development & Commercialization (MDC)

 

The Sr. Manager, New Product Creation (NPC) leads the LATAM Technology Center and is responsible for all new product development for products manufactured in Newell’s LATAM facilities that does not possess global R&D support, from ideation through the contract gate within Newell’s IGM (Integrated Go-to-Market) product development process. As the leader of the NPC pillar of MDC in the region, the role owns product design, platforms, specifications, regulatory compliance and cost engineering, bringing products to an industrialization-ready state for handoff to the plants.

 

The Sr. Manager builds and leads a multidisciplinary organization – Product Development Specialists (PDS) across the Outdoor & Recreation (O&R), Learn & Development (L&D) and Home & Commercial (H&C) segments, Design Engineers responsible for CAD and technical drawings, and the Laboratory – and coordinates the DFM group managed by the central ERA (Engineering, Reliability & Automation) team through a dotted-line relationship. Reporting to the MDC Director, the role builds capability in people, processes and technology and partners with Segment/IGM, R&D, marketing, sourcing, quality, regulatory and plant NPI teams to deliver robust, manufacturable and commercially successful products.

 

Job Duties

  • Lead the LATAM NPC Technology Center, overseeing regional product development strategy, innovation, engineering, laboratory operations, and multidisciplinary teams across key business segments. 
  • Drive the end-to-end new product development process from ideation through commercialization readiness, ensuring performance, quality, compliance, cost, and manufacturability targets are achieved. 
  • Manage resources, budgets, and priorities while fostering organizational capability and operational excellence. 
  • Partner cross-functionally with R&D, Marketing, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Sourcing, and global stakeholders to deliver business objectives, support industrialization, and standardize best practices across the organization.

 

Key Deliverables

  • Regional NPC roadmap and Technology Center capability plan
  • Products developed to contract-gate / industrialization-ready state
  • Product specifications, platforms, BOMs and design documentation
  • CAD models and technical drawings (Design Engineering)
  • Prototype, test and validation reports (Laboratory)
  • VAVE / cost-reduction results delivered to target cost

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics, Industrial or related).
  • Solid experience in product development / engineering in a manufacturing environment, including people leadership.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary product-development or engineering teams.
  • Strong knowledge of the product development lifecycle, DFM/DFA and stage-gate processes.
  • Advanced to fluent English (written and spoken).
  • Availability to frequent travel across LATAM sites, with periodic global travel as required.
