Position Overview:  

The Assistant Manager, Marketing plays a key support role on the Outdoor and Recreation segment team for Newell Brands Canada. Reporting to the Manager of Marketing, this position helps coordinate and implement various marketing tasks that contribute to the successful execution of product launched, seasonal initiatives, campaigns, and brand programs.

 

The Marketing Assistant will provide day-to-day support across item set-up, content creation, social media coordination, public relations efforts, paid media logistics, sales materials, and packaging updates. This role helps ensure consistency in brand messaging and provides administrative and operational support to keep projects moving smoothly. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and excited to contribute to the day-to-day execution of brand-building programs across a diverse consumer product portfolio.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Marketing Campaign Support

  • Assist in organizing marketing materials, timelines, and team deliverables for brand campaigns.
  • Coordinate internal approvals, help prepare creative briefs, and support the assembly of campaign toolkits.
  • Collect and organize campaign performance data for reporting purposes.
  • Assist in liaising with agency partners and vendors on asset delivery and deadlines.

Content Creation & Digital Support

  • Help coordinate and track digital and social media content calendars.
  • Assist with posting content across digital platforms as needed, ensuring brand tone and messaging consistency.
  • Support internal content reviews and help prepare summary documents and presentations.

Public Relations & Influencer Marketing

  • Assist with tracking media coverage and influencer engagement.
  • Coordinate sample shipments, gifting initiatives, and manage PR/media lists.
  • Maintain PR activity trackers and assist in monitoring press hits and social media mentions.

In-Store & Retail Marketing

  • Support the development, ordering, and distribution of in-store signage, display materials, and promotional tools.
  • Help maintain store-level promotional calendars and coordinate with sales teams for execution.
  • Assist in photographing and documenting retail executions for recap reports.

Product Launch Support

  • Help prepare and distribute materials for new product launches, including internal presentations and sales support documents.
  • Support the localization of global toolkits for the Canadian market.
  • Track merchandising execution and compile launch recaps.

Sales Team Collaboration

  • Work with the sales team to support Joint Business Plans (JBPs) and customer marketing initiatives.
  • Assist with compiling product information, images, and promotional content for retailer submissions.
  • Coordinate updates to sales materials, sell sheets, and PowerPoint decks.

Competitive Tracking & Market Insights

  • Monitor and log competitor marketing and retail activity, including packaging, pricing, and promotional tactics.
  • Support research projects by compiling data, organizing reports, and summarizing findings for internal use.

Administrative & Budget Coordination

  • Assist in processing marketing invoices and purchase orders.
  • Help manage the marketing budget tracker and monthly spend summaries.
  • Maintain accurate records of spending, contracts, and campaign-related documentation.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or university degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in a marketing, communications, or coordinator role (consumer goods experience an asset).
  • Willingness to travel 10-20% of the time
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Comfortable working on multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player mentality with the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
