The Sr Data Analyst - Market Data is responsible for operationalizing data governance and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of a critical enterprise market intelligence dataset that is used extensively by commercial teams and regularly presented to executive leadership and the Board. Acting as the Data Custodian for this domain, this role implements and sustains data standards, performs ongoing quality audits, and partners with Data Owners and Data Stewards to maintain a trusted, decision-grade data asset.
Key Responsibilities
Data Quality & Governance Execution
- Implement and enforce data governance policies, standards, and business rules as defined by the Data Owner and Data Stewards to ensure data integrity over time.
- Perform routine and ad-hoc audits of new and existing items to validate accurate hierarchy, taxonomy, and attribute classification, resolving issues before they impact downstream reporting or executive consumption.
- Actively work on improving data quality metrics, partnering with Data Owners and Data Stewards to track recurring issues and reduce rework through sustained controls.
Master Data & Taxonomy Operations
- Authorize and maintain master data attributes within the domain, ensuring consistent application of approved taxonomies and hierarchies across reporting views.
- Execute defined data entry and update processes in compliance with established standards, ensuring changes are timely, documented, and auditable.
Data Lake Architecture & Design
- Partner with cross-functional teams define and operationalize the target-state architecture for a syndicated POS data lake, including ingestion standards, data modeling strategy, and layered curation design.
- Define and monitor ingestion controls, validation rules, and restatement processes to ensure raw syndicated feeds are accurately landed, versioned, and traceable within the data lake.
- Establish lifecycle governance including data versioning, retention, archival, and deprecation standards to ensure scalability and long-term maintainability of the lake.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Issue Resolution
- Support root-cause analysis of data quality issues by working with Data Stewards, upstream data producers, and external partners to prevent recurrence.
- Serve as a single operational point of accountability for data integrity questions related to this dataset, improving responsiveness and confidence among stakeholders.
Analytics Enablement
- Enable the Analytics team to operate primarily as data consumers and insight generators, reducing the need for analyst-led data cleanup and validation and accelerating insight delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in CPG is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI and SQL required
- Experience working within Azure-based data lake or lakehouse environments (e.g., Databricks) preferred
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
