We are seeking a Sr. Operations Engineer to join our Supply Chain Organization. As the Sr. Operations Engineer you will focus on optimizing production processes, ensuring efficiency, and maintaining quality in a manufacturing setting. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, improving, and maintaining automated manufacturing processes. Work with various Newell teams and OEMs to improve efficiency, safety, quality, and troubleshoot issues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and modify electrical schematics, ladder logic, and HMI programs for automated machinery and systems using Rockwell Automation software.
- Integrate and program robotic systems, particularly Fanuc Robotics, within automated manufacturing processes.
- Ensure all automation systems adhere to safety standards and regulations, such as NFPA and OSHA.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with automation systems, including PLC and HMI malfunctions, and provide technical support to maintenance and controls teams.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, cycle time reduction, and overall efficiency improvements.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for automation systems, including schematics, IO lists, and user manuals.
- Work closely with equipment suppliers, design teams, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of automation solutions.
Skills and Experience:
- PLC Programming: Programming Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, RS 500, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000).
- HMI Development: Experience with modifying Allen Bradley Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
- Robotics: Familiarity with Fanuc or other industrial robots.
- Electrical and Mechanical Knowledge: Understanding of electrical schematics, fluid power systems, and mechanical components related to automation.
- Troubleshooting: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve automation system issues.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
Additional Desired Skills:
- Experience with SCADA systems, Ignition a plus.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations, including NFPA and OSHA.
- Experience with vision systems (Keyence and/or Cognex).
- Familiarity with servo motors, servo drives and VFDs.
Education and Experience (Required):
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering) specializing in robotics/automation.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing setting.
