The Jr. Analyst Demand Planning is responsible for developing and maintaining an unbiased rolling 24-month unit forecast at the item level for their accounts/categories using current forecasting methodologies to enhance forecast accuracy (WFA), minimize forecast bias, and optimize inventory levels while achieving mutual financial objectives and expected customer service levels.

The Jr. Analyst Demand Planning manages internal and external relationships – understanding when to elevate concerns to their manager and/or utilize corporate resources to satisfy needs or requirements to maximize objectives consistent with customer and organizational expectations.

Demand Planning and Operations

  • Build and maintain a short-, medium -, and long‑term data‑driven forecast incorporating POS trends, inventory levels, and marketplace dynamics.
  • Validate and clean demand data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy
  • Assembles and analyzes demand plans by driving the monthly planning cycle utilizing market information and statistical forecasts while working with Sales, Finance, and Operations to obtain the necessary customer and product information.
  • Establishes proficiency in APO/IBP Demand Planning software and the ability to interpret results from other internal operational support software such as Power BI, Apollo, Forecast Metrics, and IBB.
  • Works collaboratively with internal team members to proactively identify risks and opportunities to Plan achievement and New Product Initiatives.
  • Partners with Supply Chain representatives identify supply gaps and offer solutions to minimize out of stock or fill rate issues.
  • Manage the outlier process, working with Sales to validate demand for spikes requiring Supply Chain approval.
  • Support initiatives to manage or disposition unproductive inventory.

Reporting, Communication, and Planning

  • Provide weekly reporting on orders vs. forecast and identify mix issues or forecast impacts.
  • Support annual planning, budget cycles, and bridging processes through analysis and template preparation.
  • Learns to anticipate potential supply chain issues and actively communicates to sales teams.
  • Assist in preparing the Monthly Demand Review Meeting (DRM) for the S&OP 5‑Step process, including updated forecasts, prior performance, inventory positions, and marketplace insights.
  • For Commercial Forecast Function: develops knowledge of account business practices related to and/or including inventory flow, inventory policy, store openings, and warehouse pulls and triggers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Operations, Analytics, or related field.
  • 0–3 years of experience in demand planning, supply planning, buying, or related fields.
  • Comfortable working in a matrix environment and engaging with various levels of leadership.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Proficiency in Excel and strong PC skills.
  • Ability to communicate insights clearly and succinctly
  • Detail-oriented with strong time‑management skills
  • Experience with syndicated data sources such as Nielsen, IRI, Scentia or Circana
  • Exposure to BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) or SQL.
  • Understanding CPG forecasting challenges (seasonality, promotions, retailer lead times, distribution changes).
