The role applies practical and theoretical knowledge of global product safety standards and regulations to support New Product Development and Maintenance projects, resolve moderately difficult compliance issues, maintain product approvals, communicate requirements to internal and external partners, and contribute to improvements in regulatory processes and systems.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Regulatory Compliance & Certification:
    • Independently review and approve product documentation, technical files, procedures, work instructions, and templates for compliance with established regulatory requirements.
    • Interpret applicable standards, regulations, certification requirements, and company procedures; explain requirements and practical approaches to suppliers, our project teams and other stakeholders.
    • Communicate with test houses, competent authorities, notified bodies, standards organizations, suppliers, and internal partners on regulatory matters for assigned products and projects.
    • Facilitate resolution of agency findings, variation notices, certification questions, and supplier-factory compliance issues; escalate higher-risk or precedent-setting matters as appropriate.
    • Maintain regulatory conformity, certifications, registrations, and approvals for assigned product categories throughout the product life cycle.
  • NPD & Maintenance Project Support:
    • Work independently on smaller or less complex New Product Development and Maintenance projects and lead defined regulatory workstreams within larger projects.
    • Coordinate regulatory deliverables, monitor schedules, identify risks, and communicate status and required actions to cross-functional teams.
    • Research and resolve moderately difficult product and engineering compliance problems involving multiple technical, regulatory, or business considerations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review design data, identify short- and long-term compliance issues, and recommend practical corrective or preventive actions.
  • Continuous Improvement, Training & Communication:
    • Identify and implement minor improvements to compliance processes, procedures, templates, tracking systems, and product-submittal practices to improve accuracy, timeliness, and team performance.
    • Provide compliance process and project-requirement guidance, training, and work review support to suppliers, project teams, entry-level employees, or new team members as needed.
    • Provide status updates to Project Managers, R&D, and Product Regulatory Affairs colleagues based in the US, EMEA and APAC as requested.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field.
  • Typically, 2 or more years of relevant product regulatory, compliance, product safety, certification, design engineering, or process engineering experience.
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of product safety standards, regulatory requirements, conformity assessment, and certification processes applicable to assigned product categories.
  • Experience working with safety agencies or conformity-assessment organizations such as UL, ETL, CSA, TUV, NSF, FDA, or similar bodies, as applicable to the product portfolio.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently complete assigned work, exercise judgment within established policies and procedures, and manage multiple priorities with limited oversight.
  • Ability to analyze moderately difficult problems involving multiple issues, develop practical recommendations, and identify when escalation is necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain standards, policies, procedures, concepts, and practices to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Project coordination skills and the ability to lead defined workstreams or smaller, less complex projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and regulatory, certification, or project-tracking systems.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information.
