The Sr. Director, Media is responsible for leading the media team comprised of 3 units: Retailer media, National media & data and Influencer & engagement. The role leads the overall strategy, investment, and execution of paid and earned media as well as the development of media capabilities and media analytics. This leadership role will bring Newell’s vision of consistently delivering incremental revenue via media investment to life by maximize revenue growth through data-driven, multi-channel marketing strategies across retail and national media. The ideal candidate will drive measurable results, enhance customer acquisition, and develop a high performing, analytics, media marketing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the vision and strategic direction for North America full funnel media, all channels by ensuring alignment with overarching brand goals
- Foster a data driven mindset and establish full funnel annual media planning
- Build a media measurement system that measures all media (national, retailer, etc.) and provides actionable reporting to drive year on year improvements of key metrics like iROAS
- Foster cross-functional collaboration among brands, sales, and agency partners to ensure a unified approach that effectively achieves company objectives and drives business growth.
- Manage and mentor a team of digital marketing professionals, across retail media and national media
- Lead the media agency partnership inclusive of contract negotiations, ensuring annual spending does not exceed retainer agreement, partnering with agency to gain top talent on staff and establishing agile and productive ways of working
- Own relationships with key media partners like Amazon, Meta, Google, TikTok, Pinterest, etc. to ensure Newell maximizes free benefits and is engaged early for test and learn opportunities
- Oversee national media strategies, including SEM, affiliate, programmatic, paid and organic social, and influencer marketing.
- Partner with sales, eCommerce teams and retailers including DTC to drive digital sales growth through strategic media efforts.
- Create learning opportunities for brand marketing via media agency and media partnership presentations designed to upskill the organization
- Stay ahead of industry trends, competitive insights, and regulatory changes in digital marketing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Analytics, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in marketing, with a strong focus on media strategy, performance marketing and media measurement
- Prior experience working at a media agency across all channels of media
- Extensive retail media experience with Amazon a plus
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate data insights into compelling narratives.
