The Regulatory Senior Manager is responsible for leading global regulatory compliance and product safety initiatives for the Kitchen business (Home Appliances & Food) initially, with flexibility to cover other categories as needed. This role provides strategic direction, manages complex regulatory projects, and drives continuous improvement in compliance processes. The Senior Manager will lead and develop a team of regulatory professionals, collaborate cross-functionally, and serve as a key decision-maker for regulatory matters, reporting to the Regulatory Director.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Kitchen regulatory team initially, providing mentorship, technical direction, and career development support to direct reports globally. Category assignment may change as needed
- Oversee and coordinate regulatory compliance for new product development, legacy products, and market expansion initiatives
- Serve as the primary decision-maker for complex regulatory issues, escalating to the Regulatory Director as needed
- Develop and implement regulatory strategies and systems to ensure compliance and drive efficiencies
- Promote Artificial Intelligence and discover and deploy new use cases
- Ensure Product Quality and Regulatory Risk Assessments are updated with Regulatory risks; develop mitigation plans for identified risks
- Ensure that qualification requirements to support New Product Development are clearly communicated to the team
- Ensure that guidance documents and templates shared with other functions are maintained and promoted
- Ensure product labeling, packaging, and instruction booklets comply with applicable standards and regulations and facilitate safe use of our products
- Monitor and interpret changes in regulatory requirements; initiate and lead actions to maintain compliance for active products
- Manage relationships with third-party test laboratories and regulatory agencies globally
- Lead investigations and problem-solving for safety or compliance issues, ensuring timely resolution and communication
- Represent the company in industry association committees and regulatory forums
- Promote a culture of being proactive, seeking improvement, and consistent records management
- Develop and deliver training to regulatory and cross-functional teams on compliance topics
- Assist in developing and managing budgets related to regulatory activities; monitor and report costs
- Provide expert advice to colleagues across segments and support strategic business initiatives.
- Ensure accurate and accessible records of compliance and testing are maintained
- Drive harmonization of regulatory processes across business units and regions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (Chemical, Material, Electrical preferred)
- 5+ years of leadership experience in regulatory or compliance roles or related technical work
- 10+ years of experience in assuring product compliance with global regulatory requirements or related technical work
- Proven ability to lead teams in a matrixed, global organization
- Experience with global food contact regulations, electrical products, Agency listing, CA Proposition 65, children’s products, EU REACH, and other relevant standards
- Strong decision-making, project management, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with consumer products, product development, and manufacturing
- Ability to proactively identify and resolve complex regulatory and safety issues
- Superior communication skills—verbal and written
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel & PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated knowledge of problem-solving techniques and regulatory strategies
