This person will conceptualize and develop new products that improve the lives of our customers. In this role, you will be involved in all aspects of Industrial Design, including leveraging emerging AI technologies to enhance creativity and problem-solving. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will design customer experiences for the next generation of products while exploring how AI tools can drive efficiency and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute as directed against integration of technology and innovation platforms leveraging new and existing VBL.
  • Apply consumer insights into innovative design solutions across a multitude of media.
  • Collaborate with the team to explore, test, and implement AI tools that enhance creativity, accelerate workflows, and solve design challenges.
  • Participate in programs requiring direct consumer interaction, such as qualitative research including home visits, ethnographies, and focus groups.
  • Work closely with Engineering to develop product specifications and validate prototypes.
  • Conceptualize and develop new products with an average level of difficulty and complexity while integrating AI-based methodologies for ideation and validation.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design.
  • Three years+ of relevant experience in corporate or consulting design.
  • Ability to travel at least once per quarter.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in team environments.
  • General knowledge of Generative AI design tools including text to image and image to image software (preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential).
  • Design Fundamentals (Intermediate): Able to demonstrate all design skills within the basic set, including rapid ideation, form development, rendering (analog and digital), structural comprehension, materials process knowledge, and market curiosity.
  • Digital Design Tools (Intermediate): Capable of developing CAID models, working knowledge of Creo, and proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with AI-powered design tools is a plus.
  • Industrial Design Research (Foundational): Understanding and experience of ethnographic methods.
  • Visual Communications (Intermediate): Strong skills in visual composition and creating compelling visual presentations, including the use of AI-enhanced visualization tools.
  • Human Factors (Intermediate): Ability to use study models to design for scale and usability constraints.
  • Materials and Methods (Foundational): Undergraduate-level knowledge of common product materials and their manufacturing processes.
  • Interface Design (Intermediate): Ability to assess various interface designs for usability effectiveness.
