Position Summary: The Logistics Leader directs and oversees the daily planning activities associated with the distribution center, carriers (LTL and TL), STOs, material movements between sites, and distribution. Responsible for supporting safety, productivity and coordinating the daily fast pace of carriers and logistics operations.

Job Responsibilities:   

  • Strategically plan and schedule drivers to meet operational needs and cost controls.
  • Maintain practices in compliance with federal, state, local regulators, company guidelines and policies.
  • Work with Operations to level load the daily workload.
  • Review freight spends to identify areas for improvement.
  • Efficiently solve freight handling issues/delays/surprises and communicate these effectively.
  • Understand the shipping department’s role as a customer service provider to our internal customers and their needs.
  • Develop specific, measurable objectives for transportation performance that will ensure attainment of company objectives measured via KPIs with monthly reviews.
  • Ensure carrier compliance with company policies and procedures for product transit or delivery.
  • Provide support and direction to the planning team to perform their daily tasks.
  • Coordinate with the International Transportation Manager on flow and workload
  • Work collaboratively with customers and carries in all aspect of the operations.
  • Address performance problems through corrective action and disciplinary process.
  • Take an active role in, and contribute to, site performance improvement activities.
  • Provide “back-up” support to other logistics-related management team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

An associates degree in Business, Operations, Inventory Management, Logistics, or related field.  In lieu of degree, a high school diploma or equivalent with at least three years of logistics experience in a large warehouse/distribution center environment.

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to use software such as MS Office, and SAP as tools to perform work tasks.
  • Ability to lead in a team environment while maintaining sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training in a variety of settings (classroom, one-on-one, small groups).
  • Ability to supervise the operation of the ERP system by direct reports.
  • Strong verbal, written and listening communication skills.
  • Skilled in reading, interpreting, applying and explaining logistics-related laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Highly organized and able managing multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
