Job Discription

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for working with the Newell Service Centers to manage all logistical aspects to ensure a successful execution of daily DC operations. Activities would be focused on service to both the internal as well as external logistics relationships and lanes of both inbound and outbound activities. This position will handle repeatable analysis and tasks driving continuous cost and service improvement by recommending and implementing stated improvements. Position will require both customer, Business Units and limited carrier interfacing. Other duties as assigned by the Outbound Department Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Daily communication Link for the Ryder Logistics Team and the Service Center Operations Team
  • Work with the Regional Transportation Managers on carrier feedback and reports
  • Work with the Deployment Shipping Coordinator to establish the inventory positioning within the campus
  • Establish load instructions for use by the warehouse associates in the outbound loading procedures to ensure customer compliance is met
  • Have a strong working knowledge of SAP and PKMS applications and overall transportation and distribution operations.
  • Analyze Ryder shipping changes related to carrier dates, and assignments in the PKMS system
  • Work with the BU Deployment Shipping Coordinators on upcoming redeployment needs to other service centers
  • Work with Inbound Container Dray Company for final positioning of containers within the campus
  • Support ECOMM through open delivery monitoring and shipment processing
  • View and compare Outbound Dock Sheet/YMS/PKMS Shipping Monitor
  • Daily Load Monitor communication with carriers
  • Manage Ryder carrier freight claims process
  • Update weekly Shipper Related Verified SharePoint Data
  • Oversee and employ Fusion Target LTL weekly processing

Skills/Abilities

  • Proficient in SAP, and PKMS
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Knowledge of transportation best practices and procedures
  • Strong work ethic with a "can do" attitude.
  • Proficient and comfortable with computer systems, and ideally have experience with various retail or distribution computer systems.
  • A good communicator who is energetic, a quick study and analytical. Strong analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills.
  • Able to identify and formulate solutions to problems and have extreme attention to detail.

  • Ability to cross train and learn other transportation functions as assigned by management
