The Distribution Center Maintenance Manager leads the maintenance function and related planning efforts by utilizing available resources to enhance operations and improve performance. The manager will have daily responsibilities leading maintenance technicians who support all area of the facility with a focus on maximizing utilization of labor and resources. They will oversee maintenance programs and initiatives using a scheduling/planning system (MicroMain) to monitor and achieve results. This position provides input to improve equipment design, reliability, and maintainability. The manager trains, supervises, reviews, disciplines, and assists in hiring employees in the maintenance department.

 

Job Functions

  • Actively promote and advocate safe work practices as the primary priority.
  • Identify and capture opportunities for improvement in equipment maintainability and reliability.
  • Use PEAK (Performance, Engagement, Achievement, Knowledge) directed concepts to optimize work processes, adapt maintenance tools and creates procedures to improve the warehouse environment.
  • Keep current with latest equipment, technologies, and maintenance methods.
  • Assist with the development and coaching of all maintenance staff.
  • Support all levels of management in keeping the facility running smoothly.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of asset management and maintenance systems data.
  • Evaluate, review, develop and administer effective preventive and predictive maintenance (PPM).
  • Analyze history to identify specific repetitive issues/failures and effectively address identified areas.
  • Schedule planned downtime and reviews failures to improve PPM processes.
  • Develop project plans for major jobs and integrates them into standard work routines.
  • Identify training needs to improve skill levels or repair techniques based upon data and observation.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and evaluate/approve work performed by outside contractors.
  • Identify technologies and sourcing necessary to carry out activities to increase equipment availability.
  • Update and distribute site plan revisions.
  • Oversee site security systems and processes, including on-site guards and cameras.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
     

Qualifications

  • Proven commitment to safety and ensuring lasting housekeeping initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field and 4+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to lead and direct others in support of improving warehouse operations.
  • A background in facility maintenance, engineering and/or automation desirable.
  • Must be available non-standard workdays and times as situations demand.
  • Strong root cause and failure analysis skills.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to manage costs and control budgets in an environment of changing priorities.
  • Experience using statistical data to develop predictive maintenance programs.
  • Familiarity with 6S, SMED, TPM, Visual Factory, Kaizen, and lean practices.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to identify equipment improvements, manage change and implement solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player.
  • Ability to use MS Office Products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD.
  • Must successfully pass post-offer screening and review of background.
