Job Purpose
The Sr. Team Leader is responsible for coordinating the shipping activities within the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for organizing and maintaining the job orders and their priority.
- Gathers and distributes purchase orders to employees.
- Prioritizes work load of team members to meet shipping deadlines.
- Maintains inventory levels of all items.
- Inspects orders and ensures that orders are loaded accurately and properly.
- Checks for accuracy throughout the shipping department.
- Manages multiple projects at the same time and stays focused on task.
- Secures in/out bound deliveries and arranges dock space for trucks.
- Identify damaged merchandise, repack and/or restock materials.
- Train new employees and coach existing employees.
- Performs activities of associates, when necessary.
- Report any issues related to safety, performance or quality to the Supervisor.
- Uses continuous improvement (CI) to improve processes.
- Have an active role in the company’s continuous improvement program to achieve plans for future growth within the company.
- Maintain and support a safe, clean work environment by complying with the company’s safety standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of three to four years of related experience. High school diploma/GED preferred.
- Basic understanding of computers.
- Basic math, reading and writing skills.
- Good communication, organization, and project management skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality and safety.
- Utilize hand and power tools and various equipment as needed to perform duties.
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work overtime and weekends as well as some irregular hours. Will be exposed to some or all of the following: dust, odor, oils, outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and moderate to loud noise levels.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time, bend, kneel, stoop, walk and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, and controls, and reach with hands and arms, push and pull. Must have good repetitive manual dexterity with both hands. The employee may be required to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must wear and use proper PPE at all times.
