Senior Manager / Head of Analytics, Insights and Category Development

Your role and team in a nutshell

As Head of Analytics, Insights and Category Development, you will lead analytics and category strategy across the UK and Ireland, covering all categories present in these markets. You will turn data into clear commercial actions, shape category strategies and influence key retail partners, while working closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain and Product teams.

You will lead a team of four direct reports located across the UK and play a central role in driving sustainable growth across categories that include brands like Sharpie, Yankee Candle, Breville, Coleman and more.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high‑performing analytics and category team, setting clear priorities and building a culture of insight‑driven decision‑making and commercial impact.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain and Product teams to translate insights into actionable commercial strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Act as a trusted category advisor to key retail customers, delivering compelling, data‑led category stories to support joint business planning, line reviews and growth initiatives.
  • Analyse market, shopper and competitive trends to assess category performance, identify growth opportunities and track key performance indicators across sales, share and profitability.
  • Define and deliver category strategies including assortment, pricing architecture, shelving and promotional frameworks that drive sustainable growth across segments and key customers.
  • Lead pricing and promotion analytics, using modelling and scenario planning to optimise investment decisions and improve promotional return on investment.
  • Optimise merchandising and in‑store execution, providing data‑backed recommendations on planograms, displays and shelf strategy to improve visibility and shopper conversion.
  • Build enterprise‑wide analytics and category capabilities, standardising best practices, enhancing reporting tools and strengthening insight frameworks across the business.

 

What you will need

Minimum

  • Extensive experience in category management, analytics or commercial insights within fast‑moving consumer goods, consumer packaged goods or retail.
  • A proven track record of owning and delivering category growth strategies with measurable commercial impact.
  • Proficiency in syndicated data (e.g., Circana/Nielsen/IRI), retailer POS data, and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Advanced analytical capabilities including forecasting, modelling and data visualization
  • Strong experience leading and developing teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in pricing, promotion optimisation, assortment planning and retail analytics.
