TITLE: Facilities Technician
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager
SUPERVISES: None
JOB CLASS: Hourly
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
This position performs daily checks, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs plant facilities equipment. This position is also responsible for maintaining the plant facility PM program.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Troubleshoot and repair of plant support equipment including: air compressors, cooling towers, pumps and piping systems, process chillers, HVAC, fans, make-up air units and heating units.
- Installation of electrical distribution systems, conduit, wiring to plant equipment.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and repair of plant lighting systems.
- Troubleshoot, maintain and repair plant piping / plumbing systems, fire suppression equipment.
- General construction / repair of plumbing, sheetrock, structural and electrical.
- Lead, train and coach plant maintenance employees in operation of plant facilities equipment.
- Develop documentation, PM’s and checklists for all plant facilities equipment.
- Assist maintenance leadership to ensure that PM’s, CM’s , TPM’s are executed efficiently, effectively and on schedule by auditing and optimizing process.
- Assists maintenance planner in prioritizing planned maintenance and projects.
- Help to develop SOP’s, checklists for PM’s, CM’s, TPM’s for best practices of maintaining plant facilities equipment.
- Manage waste materials area. Coordinate proper disposal practices while adhering to all environmental regulations. Keep records in compliance to EPA standards.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must have general construction knowledge of plumbing, sheetrock, structural, electrical.
- Familiar with troubleshooting / repair of PLC, I/O logic, AC/DC drives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Visual aptitude – must be able to see with or without correction.
- Communication – ability to communicate verbally or non-verbally.
- Must be able to lift minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform a standing job for 12 consecutive hours.
- Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods of time during a consecutive 12-hour period.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred experience with HVAC, fans, make-up air units, heating units.
- Preferred experience in troubleshooting, repair, installation of electrical distribution and plant lighting systems.
- Must have experience in installation of new electrical supply to equipment. Design, parts list, ordering and execution of installation.
- Preferred experience in troubleshooting, maintaining and repair of plant piping / plumbing systems, fire suppression.
- Preferred experience in installation of new piping / plumbing supply to equipment. Design, parts list, ordering and execution of installation.
- Demonstrated excellence in PM troubleshooting and repair of plant support equipment including:
- Air compressor
- Cooling towers
- Pumps and piping systems
- Chillers
- 2-year technical degree with 2 years’ experience or 7 years’ experience in troubleshooting and repair of plant facilities equipment.
