Position Overview: The Manufacturing Leader will possess the ability to assure the effective utilization of personnel, equipment and materials with the objective being to maximize production output while maintaining safety, morale, quality and cost standards.
Responsibilities:
- Help develop strategy for managing the department
- Oversee all aspects of safety, quality, production and continuous process improvements in their area of responsibility
- Motivate operators to focus on critical areas of production, including but not limited to, increased work schedules and/or alternate work assignments as required to sustain plant operations. Additionally, assign operators to lines and make other personnel assignments to maximize production with regard to schedule completion
- Oversee the set-up of equipment and training of operators in the correct set up and operation of said equipment
- Must be able to create and distribute daily shift reports including but not limited to: shift labor reports, usage reports, daily production and labor efficiency
- Responsible for up to 250 employees, including both full-time and temporary employees
- Promote safety by enforcing company rules and good practices
- Promote a work environment conducive to high employee morale
- Recommend disciplinary action as required
- Review daily schedule prior to shift to anticipate product changeovers, staffing, changes, etc., and establish priorities and availability or capacity of workers, parts, materials, machines and equipment
- Work closely with other department leaders (Quality, Materials, and Maintenance) to positively affect the bottom line of the company
- Implement key business metrics, measure performance and drive change within the department
- Develop and manage a monthly/annual budget

- Must be able to comprehend schedule and required outputs for day’s production activities, including maintaining customer service, maintenance, and inventory goals, including working with key members of other functional areas

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering or Business discipline. (In lieu of college degree: 2 yr. leadership experience = 1 yr. college)
- 5+ or more years’ experience in quality/manufacturing position

Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods of time during working hours
- Consumer Products Industry Experience preferred
