GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
This position is responsible for purchasing all necessary raw materials, mold components and outside services for Maryville’s Tooling and Automation department, while maintaining the company’s desired customer service, inventory, space utilization and sourcing goals.
Additionally, the position will interface daily with vendor representatives, supply chain leadership, MRO sourcing and all levels of the shop operation. This position is responsible for the administrative duties associated with the Technical Services department including department budget maintenance and HLS administration. A “can-do” attitude along with a strong work ethic and attention to detail is essential for success in this position.
This person will be the focal point of information exchange between Supply Chain, Sourcing and the Supply Base. This position requires managing dynamic circumstances, and having the ability to make sound independent decisions based on multiple considerations. Must interface effectively with wide range of personnel under all situations and be both directive and responsive. It is essential to manage our systems through organized record keeping and documentation. Communication skills, interpersonal skills, planning skills, personal organization skills and ability to make rational decisions based on the data are important. Has the ability to work extended hours when necessary, limited travel required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Purchase all necessary components to support the department’s internal customers. This includes working closely with our parts department to ensure uninterrupted service to operations.
- Responsible to manage supplier – customer relationship by communicating long term facility production plan, identify engineering changes well in advance to avoid supplier E&O and actively pursue deflationary opportunities through reduction of waste in supply chain.
- Maintain assigned inventory levels within specific targets to support customer service and inventory goals.
- Develop and implement projects aimed at reducing spend.
- Support sourcing efforts in supplier consolidation, material changes and lead time reductions.
- Perform administrative duties to support the Tooling and Automation Department.
- Develop and maintain an inventory control system for mold steel components.
- Prepare requests for quote, obtain quotes and agree on lead-times. When appropriate travel to vendors to review progress.
- Work with vendors on non-conforming parts.
- Develop procedures for and maintain inventory of spares parts and consumables.
- Order new parts, reorder replacement parts as necessary. Track the status of part orders and the timing of deliveries to ensure schedules are met.
- Perform incoming Parts inspection to ensure standards are met and parts are in spec.
- Perform HLS Administration duties as assigned.
- Maintain and expand the electronic database containing mold repair and maintenance records.
- Perform other administrative duties for the Technical Services department as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods of time during working hours.
- Must be able to tolerate high temperatures while working in the plant, especially during the summer months.
- MS Software – Proficient in Access, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Well organized with ability to manage through exception and data tracking.
- Great communication skills. Has the ability to clearly communicate ideas at all levels of operations – from the floor to upper management.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related Analytical Discipline.
- 2-5 years of Raw Material Purchasing, experience with tangible accomplishments in reducing inventory, improving supply chain and meeting operations financial objectives.
- Purchasing experience with international suppliers preferred.
- APICS CPIM Certification preferred.
- SAP R/S, SNP (PP/DS), WMS, BW preferred. System migration and start up experience highly desired.
