The Business Development Manager – eCommerce for Latin America is responsible for defining and executing the regional strategy for new business development, Marketplace expansion with a strong focus in Mercado Libre, and eCommerce innovation across multiple digital sales models. This role focuses on identifying, developing, and scaling new business opportunities across marketplaces, Amazon, DTC/B2B eCommerce, and emerging digital channels, with the objective of accelerating eCommerce sales growth across Latin America through close collaboration with local market teams and cross-functional partners.

Specific Responsibilities: 

New Business Development & Innovation Strategy

  • Define and execute the regional strategy for new business development, channel expansion, and eCommerce innovation across multiple digital sales channels.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new eCommerce business opportunities, including new channels, commercial models, partnerships, and scalable regional initiatives.
  • Lead innovation initiatives and pilot projects to test new go-to-market approaches, platforms, and growth levers that can be expanded across LATAM.
  • Act as a regional driver of eCommerce innovation, promoting a test-and-learn mindset to accelerate growth.

 

Cross-Channel eCommerce Projects

  • Lead the development and execution of cross-channel eCommerce projects across marketplaces, Amazon, B2B eCommerce, and other digital sales models.
  • Design and implement go-to-market strategies and commercial initiatives that drive incremental online sales and accelerate time-to-market.
  • Partner with local commercial teams, IT, developers, and designers to deliver new developments, platform enhancements, and eCommerce capabilities.
  • Ensure scalability of projects and initiatives across multiple countries and business units.

 

Marketplace Expansion with Strong Focus on Mercado Libre

  • Lead the regional expansion and accelerated growth of marketplaces in Latin America, with a strong strategic focus on Mercado Libre as the primary growth platform.
  • Work closely with local country teams to define and execute marketplace growth roadmaps aligned with regional objectives.
  • Support local teams in scaling marketplace operations, launching new initiatives, and accelerating sales performance across priority countries, using the entire Mercado Libre ecosystem such as Ads, Mercado Pago and Fulfillment.
  • Drive best-practice sharing and capability development to increase marketplace maturity at a regional level.
  • Act as the regional point of contact for marketplace strategy, governance, and long-term expansion planning.

 

Commercial Execution & Sales Enablement

  • Support the development and execution of eCommerce sales plans across divisions and business units, including seasonal campaigns, promotional events, and new product launches.
  • Ensure strong coordination between eCommerce, sales, and marketing teams to maximize commercial impact across digital channels.
  • Track performance and results of new business initiatives, using data and insights to optimize execution and scale successful projects

 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Engineering, or a related field. MBA or postgraduate studies are a plus.
  • 8 or more years in digital commerce, business development, or digital growth roles, preferably within a regional or multi-country environment.
  • Proven track record of developing and scaling new business models, channels, or go-to-market strategies in eCommerce.
  • Strong hands-on experience with marketplaces, with deep knowledge of Mercado Libre or solid experience with Amazon.
  • Strong analytical focus and KPIs management.  
  • Experience leading cross-channel initiatives across marketplaces, Amazon, and B2B eCommerce environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects involving commercial, marketing, IT, and external partners.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, performance marketing, retail media, and CRM within eCommerce ecosystems.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze performance, identify opportunities, and translate insights into actionable growth initiatives.
  • Experience working closely with local market teams across multiple countries, adapting regional strategies to local execution.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to lead without direct authority. Ability to negotiate and achieve objectives by collaborating across multiple departments and managers
  • Excellent strategic thinking combined with strong execution and operational discipline.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • English written and spoken at an advanced level, Portuguese is a plus.
