Job Summary

With the company emphasis shifting to become more customer centric, the Customer Supply Chain Manager (CSCM) will be the single point of contact for the customer as well as internal Sales and Category Management teams. The team approach leverages Newell Brand’s scale and unlocks capabilities to better serve our customer.  The CSCM will utilize a customer centric approach to optimize total delivered cost, mitigate risks, and enable joint growth of the business. The CSCM will lead multiple supply chain processes and initiatives to deliver best-in-class service of a multi node business, while considering inventory positions, lead-times, freight utilization, and customer compliance programs. A good candidate will be able to collaborate with the customer, Business Unit supply-chains, and central support functions for an optimal go-to-market strategy and execution. The candidate is results oriented, KPI focused, and action driven.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Customer Interaction – The CSCM will maintain effective relationships with inventory and supply chain counterparts at Target to leverage collaboration for mutual growth and profitability. Frequent contacts with customer will be required to help forecast replenishment patterns and promotional events. He/She will develop a long-term perspective on business trends including shipments, POS, KPIs and marketplace dynamics to make forecast and order recommendations.  
  • Sales Interaction – This role serves as the voice of the customer to influence business decisions and practices that deliver optimal results across the joint supply chain. The CSCM provides ongoing guidance and support to the sales teams regarding forecasting, capacity, freight management, and other operational/supply chain inputs for success. The CSCM will understand and communicate strategies, limitations, and planning needs to successfully meet internal and customer expectations.
  • Forecasting – The CSCM aligns with the customer and Newell Brands teams to identify and interpret the key demand signals and their corresponding impacts on customer and internal inventory positions. The CSCM works with business segments’ Demand Planning team to translate this information into forecast inputs. This position understands forecasting complexities and sources of variability to align resources that support the changes in consumer demand.
  • Distribution & Transportation Leadership– This role is designated as the customer subject matter expert on distribution & transportation topics, order flow execution, and customer compliance programs. The Transportation and Customer Service teams utilize this person to identify key improvement opportunities to minimize the cost of servicing the business. Projects may include volume analysis, creating event load planning recommendations, lead-time analysis and identifying alternative shipment modes. This person will routinely share best practices with his/her peers and with the business segments in order to drive ongoing reduction in the cost to serve.

Qualifications - External

Education, Experience & Skills Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Supply Chain or related Business preferred
  • 5+ years Target/Mass/Club business experience marked with addressing significant customer supply chain tasks
  • Solid understanding of Target data systems, organizational roles, and supply chain processes
  • Proven ability to form and maintain positive relationships within the customer and internal functions
  • Excellent organization and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required
  • High level of proficiency in executive level communication and presentation
  • Sound analytical and financial acumen
  • Experience with SAP and Power BI, preferred
