The Plant Manager is responsible for managing the strategic and tactical direction of the entire manufacturing facility. The Plant Manager oversees all site operations—including Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain—ensuring the achievement of site-wide KPIs such as safety, EBITDA, equipment performance, waste reduction, product quality, and operational plan goal attainment. This role serves as the primary leader for the site, fostering a culture of "Passion for Winning" and operational excellence while meeting business and budget objectives.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Strategic Leadership & Operations Management

  • Site Direction: Create and execute the long-term strategic plan for the Mogadore facility, translating corporate goals into functional KPIs and objectives for all departments.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage productivity programs to reduce cost/labor spend, drive manufacturing process standardization, and improve overall employee performance. Champion the implementation of continuous improvement methodologies (PEAK, Lean, Six Sigma) to optimize value streams.
  • Production Oversight: Monitor daily production function performance to ensure "On-Time In-Full" (OTIF) delivery and adherence to quality standards.

 

Financial Management

  • P&L Ownership: Maintain full adherence to the plant budget, funding, and delivery for financial goals.
  • Cost Control: Lead executive-level problem solving regarding labor spend issues, material waste, and productivity projects.
  • Capital Planning: Identify and justify Capital Expenditure (CapEx) needs for equipment upgrades and facility improvements.

 

Talent & Organizational Development

  • Staffing Strategy: Create direct/indirect labor level staffing plans to ensure optimal workforce utilization across all shifts.
  • Team Building: Provide functional leadership, coaching, and staff development for a multi-disciplinary leadership team (Production Managers, Engineers, HR, Safety).
  • Culture: Interface effectively in a professional manner with all employees in the Company, as well as the public, fostering an inclusive and high-performance work environment.

 

Safety & Compliance

  • EHS Leadership: Ensure strict compliance with Company and Governmental safety standards, policies, and procedures by staff and outside vendors.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify safety risks and implement corrective actions to maintain a zero-harm culture.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, Business/Finance, or equivalent. required
  • Experience
    • 10+ years of manufacturing experience (vs. 5+ for Sr. Production Manager).
    • 5+ years of managerial experience leading large, cross-functional teams (500+ employees preferred).
  • Technical Skills
    • Advanced ability in calculating labor manning requirements and monitoring labor spend.
    • Expert-level employee leadership and staff development skills.
    • Intermediate Financial Modeling and budget creation/adherence.
    • Proficiency in Operational Excellence/Lean processes and performance improvement tools (Kaizen, 5S, TPM, DMAIC).
  • Communication: Capable of creating high-level operational status reports and presenting them effectively to Executive Operations Management.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Education: MBA.
  • Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Industry: Experience in high-volume plastic injection molding or consumer goods manufacturing.

 

Climate: Must interface effectively, in a professional manner with all employees in the Company, as well as the public.

This role requires executive-level problem-solving complexity specific to managing the entire Production function and site profitability.
