Seeking an Automation Robotics Engineer to work in the Supply Chain Organization with a focus on Factory of the Future and leading the deployment of Cooperative and Collaborative Robots, Pick and Place Robots, Off the Shelf Automation, as well as Autonomous Movement of Materials (AGVs).

 

Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, testing, and implementing automation/robotics solutions that are productive and safe to operate and economical to purchase and maintain
  • Determining the needs of each application and customize the right automation solution accordingly.
  • Identifying design and prove out potential applications for next generation collaborative robot use in consumer goods manufacturing environment
  • Assessing manufacturing processes for the feasibility of use of collaborative robot applications
  • Leading and implementing research projects using innovative manufacturing concepts focused on improving process efficiency
  • Examining and assessing the business case and tradeoffs of using new innovative manufacturing concepts
  • Processing development and procurement of automation equipment
  • Planning the computer programs suitable for the robot installation
  • Preparing specifications for the robot1s capabilities as they relate to the work environment
  • Developing cost proposals, efficiency studies, and quality control reports
  • Reviewing and critiquing product designs for cost and manufacturing
  • Preparing appropriation requests and managing spend
  • Developing equipment specifications for deployment and use
  • Soliciting quotations, qualifying suppliers, and selecting equipment vendors
  • Reviewing process equipment progress and managing delivery schedule
  • Implementing automated processes to reduce labor dependency
  • Acting as liaison between design, manufacturing and distribution
  • Piloting and debugging manufacturing processes for production-based environments
  • Recommending physical changes to manufacturing locations to support equipment installation
  • Helping BUs/sites solve for their strategic business objectives through technology led transformation thinking
  • Driving the technology roadmap for robotics solutions with the site
  • Developing strategies to design solutions that meet the needs and demands of the business in such a way that the cost of the solutions is competitive and will create a substantial return on investment
  • Functioning as a change agent by demonstrating past successes and driving and managing change across the team
  • Propose, evaluate, and implement automation opportunities to support quality improvements, cost reductions, and capacity increases.
  • Reviewing existing robotic solutions performance
  • Debugging and resolving issues as well as identify and implement improvements
  • Designing and creating custom fixtures to fit the needs of specific automated solutions
  • Creating, gathering and documenting requirements for automated solutions
  • Responsible for property defining and communicating such requirements to cross functional teams and vendors
  • Managing milestones towards a successful deployment of automation solutions
  • Assessing manufacturing processes for the feasibility of using collaborative robot applications and AGVs

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in automation, robotics, manufacturing environment
  • Project Management skills and experience
  • 2D/3D CAD experience
  • Ability to read/understand electrical schematics
  • Team-oriented/safety-focused
  • Great communication skills
  •  Office Suite experience
  • Programming/PLC skills preferred
  • Control system troubleshooting skills preferred
  • Plastics experience - molding, extrusion, etc. preferred
  • AI/Vision Systems experience preferred
