The Safety Generalist will assist the Safety Manager in maintaining the Plant’s safety programs and improving overall workforce safety awareness to include planning, implementing, and coordinating programs to reduce or eliminate the following: occupational injuries and illnesses, violations of federal and state safety regulations; abuse of the workers compensation system; and financial losses from above. Also assist with development and coordination of safety programs to improve the overall workforce safety awareness including new hire orientation and training on the manufacturing floor.
Job Responsibilities
- Possess current and in-depth knowledge of safety policies and regulations in order to be a resource to supervisors and managers on safety improvements and strategies
- Assist plant leadership team in building and reinforcing a safety culture moving toward zero accidents or injuries
- Lead the behavior-based safety process for the facility
- Analyze and assess plant safety trend data to drive safety resource allocation and drive ergonomic initiatives to reduce injuries
- Knowledgeable in job safety analysis to be a resource to supervisors and managers in assisting them to implement JSA’s for tasks within their departments
- Support corporate and facility efforts through safety audits, record management, and process improvement projects
- Develop health and safety programs to meet requirements of corporate and regulatory agencies
- Create and deliver safety training programs, including new hire orientation, compliance training, and specialized initiatives for all staff and contractors Identify and appraise conditions which could produce accidents and financial losses and evaluate potential injuries resulting from accidents
- Identify workplace hazards, assess injury risks, and track TRIR goals through loss analysis to drive safety improvements
- Oversee incidents to ensure timely reporting, investigation, and documentation in the safety management system
- Serve as first contact on all work-related incidents which may include basic First Aid
- Manage workers compensation activities, including maintaining OSHA log, submitting required reports, managing cases including return to work practices and fund monitoring
- Proactively engage with the Plant Leadership Team to address safety issues and drive continuous improvement
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong Presentation Skills and superior communication skills
- Strong leadership, coaching and relationship building skills with all levels of employees
- Ability to work with other departments to improve and instill safety culture

- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook)
Training Requirements
- OSHA-30 certification preferred but not required
- SEAL (Safety Excellence and Leadership)Training
- Must complete all OSHA required training
- Other identified training as deemed necessary by supervision
