Job Overview
The Training Coordinator is responsible for supporting employee development and compliance by planning, delivering, and tracking training programs within the distribution center. This role will focus on equipment operation training (forklift, TSP, etc.), safety training, onboarding of new employees, and ongoing annual refresher training. The Training Coordinator ensures employees have the knowledge and skills to perform their roles safely and effectively, while maintaining regulatory compliance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct safety and job-specific training for all new hires before they begin work on site.
- Track and ensure safety training is completed for all contractors and visitors prior to entering the facility.
- Conduct training sessions on powered industrial trucks (forklifts, TSPs, etc.) and ensure operator certification is maintained.
- Conduct training sessions and maintain records for all shifts.
- Send reminders for upcoming required trainings and follow up on missed sessions.
- Deliver retraining and refresher sessions as needed following safety incidents, near misses, or audit findings.
- Facilitate safety training programs, including OSHA-required topics, job-specific safety procedures, and emergency response.
- Manage and maintain the site-wide and individual training matrices to ensure all required training is completed and up to date.
- Work with SEAL owners to make sure required training and certifications are scheduled and completed.
- Coordinate with HR and PEAK systems for training.
- Develop, schedule, and track ongoing annual and refresher training for all employees.
- Maintain accurate training records and certifications in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Distribute and post visual training tools like signs, job aids, or quick guides as directed.
- Partner with supervisors and managers to identify training needs and create training solutions.
- Maintain safety communication boards with current training announcements and materials.
- Work with staffing agencies to ensure temporary workers receive required safety training.
- Support compliance audits by providing training documentation and records.
- Recommend improvements to training programs to enhance effectiveness and engagement.
- Ensure training materials are current, accurate, and aligned with company policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certifications in safety, training, or adult education preferred.
- Previous experience in a distribution, warehouse, or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Certified forklift trainer or ability to obtain certification.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and able to learn training record systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a warehouse environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Exposure to warehouse conditions including seasonal temperature changes and equipment noise.
- Schedule will vary based on training needs and may occasionally include early mornings, evenings, or weekends.
