The Distribution Specialist is responsible for managing/monitoring transportation business processes (i.e., Procurement, Order Management, Shipment Planning & Execution) to ensure that solutions are meeting customer requirements. This position will handle repeatable analysis and tasks driving continuous cost and service improvement by recommending and implementing stated improvements. Position will require both customer and carrier interfacing. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager including but not limited to Over, Short, and Damaged processing, Track and Trace, Seal Safety Ownership, Peak System Team Members, Trouble Shooting and Problem-Solving focus.

 

Position Detail – Responsibilities

 

Waving Specialist

  • Daily communication with Transportation Team/Window to ensure all work is dropped for the day and scheduled to go out on time
  • Work with office team to ensure the floor has enough work for the day
  • Manage Yard Management and trouble shoot any issues
  • Manage vocollect/testing needs for PKMS.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may hinder operations or invoicing
  • Have a strong communication and team skills to keep your team on track for the day

 

Outbound Specialist

  • Daily housekeeping/safety walks and audits
  • Daily communication with Team Lead in Outbound Areas to make sure work is completed efficiently and productively.
  • Work with Waving Specialist to see what workload for the day
  • Manage trouble shooting shipments that are short or being delayed
  • Have strong communication and team skills to keep your team on track for the day
  • Daily Review of staffing needs aligned with workload

 

Inbound Specialist

  • Daily housekeeping/safety walks and audits
  • Daily communication with Team Lead in Inbound areas to make sure work is completed efficiently and productively
  • Manage all paperwork needing processed for FTZ requirements
  • Manage warehouse organization of bulk locations to keep flow moving of new items coming in
  • Manage MIGOS and inner plant moves get done in a timely manner
  • Have strong communication and team skills to keep your team on track for the day
  • Daily review of staffing needs aligned with workload

 

Position Detail – Key Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years in logistics inventory control role or equivalent analytical experience
  • General knowledge of shipping, receiving and distribution center operation; understanding of transportation best practices and procedures preferred.
  • Systems knowledge (SAP, OTM, WMS)
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Office Products
  • Solid analytical skills and problem-solving skills with high detail orientation
  • Good communication both written and verbal is necessary due to the significant interaction required to ensure alignment and coordination across groups
  • Ability to plan work on daily basis, work independently, self-motivated
  • Ability to cross train and learn other transportation functions as assigned 
  • Ability to be a team player
  • Proficiency in SAP, OTM and PKMS
  • Knowledge of transportation best practices and procedures
  • Strong work ethic with a "can do" attitude
  • Proficient and comfortable with computer systems, and ideally have experience with various retail or distribution computer systems.
  • A good communicator who is energetic, a quick study and analytical. Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to identify and formulate solutions to problems and have extreme attention to detail.
