This position is responsible for coordinating many of the inventory activities across all of the multiple sites, warehouses, plants and retail store locations. They manage the daily activities of Inventory Control, within the production, logistics and all retail locations and work with the Finance, Retail, Manufacturing , Planning and D&T operations leaders to assure the inventory and financials are transacted accurately into the appropriate general ledger accounts in the period that the activity occurred.   

 

Position Details -  Responsibilities

 

  • Motivate and lead a team of Inventory Control Associates including material handlers, inventory control clerks and salaried NX employees, as well as retail store managers and operation leaders in Manufacturing and D&T and finance.
  • Closing the inventory modules within the systems and associated end of period financial reports. Complete month, quarter and year end reporting.
  • Meet daily, weekly and monthly requirements by coordinating employee placement. Help to achieve the highest level of accuracy across all sites.
  • Develop and train employees on basic inventory best practices with a strong emphasis on safety, housekeeping, leadership, quality, and accuracy across all sites.
  • Maintain a high level of inventory and accuracy and control across all sites.
  • Have a understanding of the flow of transactions thru all the systems from beginning to end to assure activity is processed in full. Monitor and correct faults as they occur, so the inventory and associates financial transactional updates occur in the correct fiscal dates/periods.
  • Regularly work with IT systems support to test and troubleshoot systemic errors.
  • Audit COGS systemic transactions, set standard auditable procedures that both internal and external auditors can review for accuracy and completeness.
  • Work with the internal and external auditors for inventory controls and SOX compliance questions/concerns.
  • Assure sites are minimally having all scales re-calibrated annually.
  • Work with and maintain a partnership (contract, invoicing and scheduling) for outside support with the retail physical inventory equipment and processing.
  • Create and maintain SOP for all elements of the IC team and responsibilities creating foundation for document control and standardization. Help other areas that have users that effect inventory accuracy to create SOP’s that can be followed both physically and systemically.
  • Enforce policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective operations
  • Supervise and control the accurate production receipt, issuance, and storage of all inventory to minimize operating costs
  • Develop and manage assigned projects
  • Maintain strong leadership presence by active involvement in Inventory Control activities
  • Communicate effectively with employees, peers, other departments and management team
  • Maintain SKU master data in synch with host systems

Position Details - Key Qualifications

 

  • Flexible to work any shift
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Knowledge of transportation best practices and procedures
  • Proficient and comfortable with computer systems and ideally have experience with retail/distribution systems
  • Able to identify and forumlate solutions to problems and have extreme attention to detail
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Office Products
  • Solid analytical skills and problem-solving skills with high detail orentation
  • Visual aptitude - must be able to see with or without correction
  • Communication - ablity to communicate verbally or non-verbally
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs
  • Ability to perform standing job for 12 consecutive hours
  • Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for various periods of time during 12 hour period
  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years invetory control experience
  • 3-5 years experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment preferably with a WMS system and inventory management
  • Strong people skills with the ability to influence others at all levels
  • Self-confident and professional in interaction with others
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic
  • Able to work various shift schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Experience in maintaining safety programs and developing ergonomic solutions
