The Director of Retail Marketing is responsible for leading consumer engagement, brand activations, and omni-channel marketing strategies across both in-store and online touchpoints. This role will drive marketing efforts through CRM, loyalty programs, email & SMS strategies, print marketing, and in-store activations, ensuring alignment with broader brand and business objectives.

 

As a key leader, the Director of Retail Marketing will oversee a team (CRM, Loyalty and Omni-marketers), manage cross-functional collaborations, and serve as the primary liaison with brand, merchandising, creative, digital marketing, and the technology team. Additionally, this role is responsible for developing and managing the retail marketing budget, leading strategic meetings such as quarterly business reviews (QBRs), and ensuring owned channel activations are successfully executed.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive omni-channel marketing strategy  that drives traffic and sales across retail stores and eCommerce.
  • Act as a key leader in briefing Creative Marketing & Design (CMD) on owned channel creative needs related to these initiatives.
  • Own and evolve the CRM strategy, driving segmentation, personalization, and customer lifecycle marketing to maximize engagement and retention.
  • Collaborate with the digital marketing team to ensure CRM-driven messaging aligns with paid media, social, and website initiatives.
  • Responsible to develop and manage the omni traffic plan, ensuring a seamless customer experience across retail, email, SMS, and eCommerce.
  • Monitor site performance metrics and identify opportunities to enhance digital experiences and conversion rates.
  • Lead planning and execution of high-impact in-store activations, ensuring strong brand presence and consumer engagement.
  • Work with merchandising and store operations teams to ensure activations are effectively implemented in retail locations.
  • Occasional travel to retail locations and partner sites may be required to support in-store activations and marketing initiatives.
  • Drive innovation and brand revitalization and stay ahead of retail and customer engagement trends, leveraging insights to evolve marketing strategies.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for strategies and campaigns, leveraging insights to optimize program effectiveness.
  • Develop and manage the retail marketing budget, ensuring all campaigns are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Provide forecasts, identify opportunities for cost savings, and allocate resources effectively to maximize ROI.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of marketing specialists, fostering professional growth and ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Inspire and activate cross-functional teams to bring marketing strategies to life across all customer touchpoints.
  • Cultivate a collaborative and high-performance culture, ensuring accountability, creativity, and innovation.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in retail marketing, CRM, loyalty, email marketing, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in leading and developing a high-performing marketing team.
  • Strong understanding of omni-channel retail marketing, customer journey, and brand engagement.
  • Experience in specialty retail is a plus.
  • Expertise in CRM platforms, email marketing tools (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Klaviyo, HubSpot, etc.), and loyalty program management.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a track record of using data and insights to drive marketing effectiveness.
  • Experience managing external vendors and agencies, including print production and creative partners.
  • Budget management experience with a strong ability to forecast, optimize costs, and maximize ROI.
  • Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Passion for home fragrance and enthusiasm for building emotional connections with customers through scent-driven experiences is a plus.

 

 

The CT base pay range for this position is from $206,075 to $251,825. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position
