SUMMARY

The Trade Expertise Center (TEC) provides Trade related services to the Business Units, Newell Brands Distribution, Newell manufacturing sites, and the Newell overseas distribution affiliates (hereafter collectively referred to as “the businesses”). The purpose of the TEC is three-fold:

  • To facilitate the timely release of goods by customs and related government agencies
  • Ensure compliance with import/export rules and regulations, globally
  • Minimize costs regarding duty spend (e.g., achieve savings)

The TEC is organized into five functional trade teams.  The Data Analytics & International Trade Manager - TEC reports to the Senior Manager of Trade Finance & Valuation pillar of Trade Expertise Center and supports all Newell businesses.  This position requires excellent analytical and data science skills, finance/accounting knowledge and creativity to provide the analytics needed to administer the trade program and provide management reporting. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, data analytics, and project management. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage complex projects across multiple regions.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIILITIES

 

Analyze and Interpret Complex Data Sets:

  • Utilize advanced data analysis techniques to extract meaningful insights from large and diverse data sets. Apply statistical methods and predictive modeling to forecast trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Present findings in clear, actionable reports and visualizations to support strategic decision-making.

Develop and Implement Data-Driven Solutions:

  • Collaborate with IT and data science teams to integrate data analytics solutions into existing systems. Continuously monitor and refine data-driven strategies to ensure they meet business objectives and adapt to changing market conditions.
  • Design and implement algorithms and data models to optimize international trade operations.

Manage and Oversee International Trade Projects:

  • Lead cross-functional project teams, ensuring all members are aligned with project goals and timelines.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, and risk management strategies. Track project progress, manage budgets, and ensure timely completion of milestones.

Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:

  • Work closely with departments such as sales, marketing, finance, and logistics to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and communication channels to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged.
  • Resolve any interdepartmental conflicts and ensure smooth collaboration across teams.

Monitor and Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Define and track KPIs related to international trade and data analytics, such as trade volume, cost savings, and efficiency improvements.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools to provide real-time visibility into performance metrics.
  • Analyze KPI trends and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Stay Updated on Industry Trends and Best Practices:

  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in data analytics, international trade regulations, and industry standards.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to maintain a competitive edge in the market.
  • Create management reporting, including but not limited to duty spend reports, user tax, origin, classification, 301 tariff etc.

General Duties:

  • Perform analytics to identify potential cost savings initiatives and productivity. 
  • Assist other functional teams in the design and development of metrics package and scorecards
  • Be able to create complex Power BI dashboards.
  • Be able to write Python scripts for data visualization and Screen scraping.
  • Be able to create recurring data updates to the Business intelligence dashboard.
  • Assist with Ad-Hoc request from TEC management team

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in business analytics and data science.
  • 3+ years of managerial experience preferred.
  • Experience from accounting/consulting firms is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in data analytics, international trade or business, and project management.
  • Strong/Pro proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau, PowerBI, Alteryx).
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of successfully managing complex projects. Be able to run multiple projects for different pillars within TEC and provide feedback as needed.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems of high complexity or difficulty, as well as problem solve in a proactive, methodical manner.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively in a fast-paced, changing environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and ability able to communicate all levels of the organization. Strong presentation skills to deliver professional data and resolution effectively
  • Knowledge of international trade regulations and compliance is a plus.
  • Analytical and data analysis expertise with proficiency in PowerBI, python and other data visualization software’s.
  • Global Customs/Trade experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Proficiency with SAP is preferred but not required.
