Position Title: Production Manager
Location: Pouso Alegre, MG - 100% On site (O&R and Baby)
Reports To: Sr. Plant Manager
The Production Manager is responsible for the end-to-end leadership of all manufacturing operations within the Pouso Alegre plant, ensuring the consistent delivery of safety, quality, cost, delivery, and productivity targets. This role is pivotal in embedding the Newell Operating Model, driving operational discipline, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The Production Manager will lead a team of Production Supervisors and oversee all production lines, supporting the O&R and Baby business units.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily production activities to ensure adherence to the approved production plan and achievement of output, efficiency, quality, and safety standards across all shifts and product lines
- Drive schedule attainment, labor productivity, and capacity utilization through effective deployment of standard work, production routines, and escalation processes
- Ensure all manufacturing processes are documented, standardized, and consistently executed, maintaining process control through operating parameters, work instructions, and control plans
- Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance to ensure equipment reliability, process capability, and rapid resolution of production disruptions using structured problem-solving
- Ensure strict compliance with Newell Brands’ EHS standards and local regulatory requirements, enforcing safe operating practices and leading incident investigations with sustained corrective actions
- Oversee in-process quality controls, driving defect prevention, scrap reduction, rework elimination, and readiness for audits, customer, and regulatory requirements
- Own and monitor manufacturing performance metrics (OEE, throughput, scrap, labor efficiency, downtime, schedule adherence), using real-time data to drive corrective actions and performance reviews
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean, TPM, and Kaizen principles
- Manage direct manufacturing costs, including labor, consumables, and variable overhead, supporting productivity improvements to meet cost and margin targets
- Ensure efficient use of resources without compromising safety or quality
- Direct, develop, and motivate Production Supervisors and frontline teams, ensuring appropriate staffing, skills coverage, and shift structures
- Drive discipline, accountability, and operational ownership through strong shop-floor presence and visible leadership
- Coordinate closely with Planning, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing flow
- Support new product introductions, process changes, line transfers, and manufacturing readiness for new equipment, tooling, and process modifications
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or Process Engineering
- Advanced English
- Experience in plastic injection molding and/or blow molding processes
- Previous relevant experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in high-volume, multi-shift environments
- Proven leadership experience managing production systems and frontline execution
- Technical expertise in manufacturing systems, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, structured problem-solving and OEE optimization
- Strong execution, operational discipline, and data-driven decision-making
- Ability to lead under pressure and resolve production issues
