POSITION SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Engineer’s primary role is to support manufacturing processes within the factory. This position provides a link between R&D and Manufacturing by providing manufacturing expertise during concurrent development of new products.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support new product development, SAP/Mattec setup and BOM/Route setup/changes utilizing the PAF process.
- Select equipment, submit Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) as needed and follow through with implementation, validation and training on the equipment to ensure project deadlines are met.
- Perform time studies on new packaging/product pack outs to confirm correct manufacturing staffing.
- Create costings for new products or new packaging structures.
- Assist in building quality standard work instructions (QSWI's) to provide clear instructions on how to pack out new packaging/products.
- Support manufacturing processes and automation.
- Support SEAL and PEAK programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
All job functions to be completed in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, company guidelines and policies.
WORK EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION LEVEL:
Required: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Experience in plastic injection and blow molding and manufacturing/automation processes preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
- Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to generate innovative solutions to situations.
- Ability to organize and coordinate activities across functional departments.
- Ability to travel occasionally for external training and on-site vendor meetings.
- Skilled in use of AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Skilled in prioritizing, organizing, and managing multiple projects.
- Skilled in communicating effectively (verbal, written, listening) with a variety of individuals.
- Skilled in use of personal computer, related Microsoft office applications and SAP ERP system.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand/walk up to 50% of the shift and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to frequently bend and twist and have unrestricted use of upper extremities
- Push/Pull up to 100 pounds.
