Position Summary: 

The Manufacturing Specialist position provides support to the manufacturing team members in identifying, developing, planning, coordinating, and communicating processes to achieve the facility safety, productivity, efficiency, and quality goals.


Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Supporting and adhering to all safety policies and procedures for the site..
  • Ensure optimal process setup of manufacturing machinery and peripheral equipment.
  • Esure high efficiency production and equipment manufacturing.
  • Provide technical guidance and training for Material Handlers, Set-Up Technicians and Manufacturing Technicians.
  • Support samples of new products, equipment, materials and colors.
  • Implement SMED methods and techniques.
  • Support Design of Experiments (D.O.E.) on new products to optimize process and review tool designs for productivity.
  • Backup to Manufacturing Supervisor for shift coverage and willing to commit to cover shift responsibilities based on the weekend supervisor rotation schedule.
  • Support the facility’s PEAK initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • All job functions to be completed in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, company guidelines and policies.


Reports To: Manufacturing Supervisor.


Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Associates degree or higher in Manufacturing Engineering or Plastics Technology or related field.
  • One to Two years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with injection molding, blow molding or a relatable industry. Proficient with production software systems.
  • Preferred: Robotics Automation, Injection, Blow, Silicone, and/or Two-shot molding experience. Experienced with MRP and MES systems. Experience in a union manufacturing environment.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member based on job duties and projects.
  • Ability to lead in a team environment maintaining sensitive and confidential information and generate innovative solutions to situations.
  • Skilled in communicating effectively (verbal, written, listening) with a variety of individuals. Spanish bilingual preferred.
  • Skilled in technical writing skills (work instructions, procedures, etc.)
  • Skilled in prioritizing, organizing and managing multiple projects.
  • Skilled in providing customer service.
  • Skilled in new product launches and new equipment installations.
  • Skilled in use of personal computer and related software applications.
  • Preferred knowledge of automation, plastic injection and blow molding, assembly and packaging operations and practices.
  • Preferred knowledge in reading and comprehending engineering diagrams.

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to stand/walk up to 90% of the shift
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to frequently bend and twist and have unrestricted use of upper extremities.
  • Push/Pull up to 200 pounds
