Director, Global AI Security & CISO Initiatives

Job Overview 

Newell Brands is seeking a strategic, highly collaborative, and execution-focused Director, Global AI Security & CISO Initiatives, to serve within the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer. This individual will be a trusted advisor and operational partner to the CISO, helping to translate Newell Brands’ information security strategy into coordinated action across the enterprise.  

The Director will lead the overall operating rhythm of the Information Security organization, drive strategic planning/project management, and ensure that the CISO’s priorities are effectively communicated and executed. The role will connect strategy, governance, financial management, talent, communications, and program delivery while fostering strong partnerships across Information Technology, (IT) Legal, Internal Audit, Privacy, Human Resources, Finance, Newell Brands operating segments, Information Security, and leadership.  

The successful candidate will combine business acumen, cybersecurity knowledge, executive presence, sound judgment, and disciplined execution. This position requires someone who can move comfortably between long-term strategy and day-to-day operations, bring clarity to complex issues, and influence outcomes without relying solely on formal authority.  

The role focuses primarily on Strategy & Execution (40%), Office of the CISO Operations (30%), and Cybersecurity Capabilities Measurement (30%). 

Strategy & Execution 

• Partner with the CISO and Information Security leadership team to execute the CISO’s strategy, roadmap, priorities, and annual objectives. 

• Translate strategic priorities into measurable initiatives, milestones, accountabilities, and outcomes. 

• Identify dependencies, risks, resource constraints, and execution gaps across the security portfolio, escalating issues and facilitating timely decisions. 

• Lead high-priority initiatives and special projects on behalf of the CISO, particularly those that cross organizational or functional boundaries. 

• Ensure Information Security priorities remain aligned with Newell Brands’ business objectives, transformation agenda, risk appetite, and Information Technology strategy. 

Office of the CISO Operations 

• Establish and manage the operating rhythm for the Office of the CISO, including leadership meetings, strategy sessions, business reviews, planning cycles, and executive updates. 

• Develop agendas, decision materials, action logs, and follow-up mechanisms that improve leadership-team effectiveness and accountability. 

• Prepare the CISO briefings for executive meetings, Board and committee engagements, regulatory discussions, business reviews, and other critical interactions. 

• Coordinate the flow of information into and out of the CISO’s office, ensuring that decisions, commitments, and priorities are clearly communicated. 

• Provide visibility into security spending, resource allocation, vendor commitments, and expected business outcomes. 

• Partners with InfoSec service tower owners on their budgets and manages the overall InfoSec budget: monthly financial performance, forecasting, etc. 

• Support portfolio management across security programs, projects, services, and technology investments. 

• Help evaluate investment proposals and ensure resources are directed toward the organization’s highest priority risks and strategic objectives. 

• Partner with security leaders to define and monitor key performance indicators, key risk indicators, strategic outcomes, and program health measures. 

• Develop concise, decision-oriented presentations and communications that translate complex cybersecurity matters into business and risk terms. 

• Monitor progress against the Information Security roadmap and facilitate corrective action when initiatives are at risk. 

• Promote consistent methods for prioritization, decision-making, and accountability across the information security organization. 

Cybersecurity Capabilities Measurement (30%) 

• Coordinate Information Security’s support for Newell Brands’ Quantum Leap AI program and other enterprise transformation initiatives. 

• Working with the Cyber Risk Partners, help ensure cybersecurity considerations are incorporated into AI initiatives from the outset. 

• Track security commitments and dependencies associated with AI adoption and emerging technologies. 

• Through deep analysis of Newell’s current information security capabilities, as well as viable market options, identify opportunities to use artificial intelligence and automation to enhance security detection, prevention, analysis, and operational efficiency. 

Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information technology, business administration, risk management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. 

• Eight or more years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, technology, security strategy and execution, or a related field. 

• Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives and leading complex, cross-functional initiatives in a large enterprise environment (globally). 

• Strong understanding of cybersecurity strategy, governance, and common security operating models. 

• Proven ability to translate complex technical and risk information into clear business implications and executive-level communications. 

• Experience with strategic planning, performance management, financial planning, portfolio management, or organizational operations. 

• Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. 

• Strong analytical judgment, organizational discipline, and attention to detail. 

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines. 

• Professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional, (CISSP) Certified Information Security Manager, (CISM) or equivalent. 

• Proven experience using AI tools, including major large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Claude. 

• Demonstrated discretion and experience handling highly confidential information. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Master’s degree in business administration, cybersecurity, information systems, or a related field. 

• Experience working in a global consumer products, manufacturing, retail, or similarly complex multinational organization. 

• Experience developing materials for Boards of Directors, executive committees, auditors, or regulators. 

• Previous experience in cybersecurity strategy, transformation, or security leadership role. 

The remote base pay range for this position is from $150,400 to $188,000.  Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.
