Job Summary:

The Procurement Excellence Director will lead the Baby gear (Graco, BBJ, Aprica) Sourced Finished Goods (SFG) sourcing team with responsibility for overseeing the overall Baby gear procurement strategy, continuous improvements, and lead all sourcing support for new product development (NPD) activities in coordination and close partnership with the Taipei Sourcing team and ATL functional teams. This role is essential in ensuring the highest quality products and materials are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively, deep understanding of development and industrialization of various product categories, while fostering strong relationships with suppliers to support our commitment to safety, innovation, and sustainability. 


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies together with VP Strategic Sourcing that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Provide knowledge of FG suppliers in the Baby industry and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable supply and foster collaboration
  • Oversee the supplier performance management process, including setting performance metrics, conducting regular reviews, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, quality assurance, supply-chain, to ensure seamless integration of procurement activities.
  • Seek category expertise, market intelligence, and supplier innovation while staying abreast of changing trends in the supply base. Monitor product trends and industry developments within the supply landscape to identify opportunities for cost savings, innovation, and risk mitigation.
  • Conduct Supply market analysis to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies related to procurement and supplier management.
  • Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Actively engage cross-functionally with the baby gear team within L&D Segment to develop and complete a thorough understanding of the business strategy and develop sourcing focus areas to support the business priorities. Where applicable, assist the other areas of procurement as a liaison in the center procurement functions.
     
  • Build a culture of collaboration, and teamwork by driving engagement between Baby gear, L&D, and all other areas of the Newell Enterprise Procurement teams globally, including other SFG areas, Direct, Indirect, Logistics, and Trade and Customs.
  • Lead NPD activities for the Baby Gear Externalization. Manage and resolve issues to ensure on-time, on-cost, on specification delivery of NPD.
  • Support supplier VAVE activities.
  • Direct the efforts that lead to cost optimization, improved quality & service while enhancing innovation through strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management and risk mitigation.
  • Assist with development of a global sourcing organization that will enable a step change in procurement performance.
  • Align with functional teams on target areas for SFG Supply Chain improvement and access to Innovation. Develop focused plans to drive meaningful improvement in the areas of productivity, payment terms, lead time, minimum order quantity, and flexibility.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure engagement, buy-in and ownership of key sourcing strategies.
  • Drive and deliver cost savings opportunities aligned with functional and organization commitments.
  • Expand use of Strategic Suppliers Management Process across all segment suppliers, establish action plans to mitigate risk on specific suppliers.
  • Reduce country sourcing risk by expanding supply source.
     

Qualifications:

  • College/University degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical, or other technical field or related Business degree required; Engineering discipline a plus.
  • 10+ years of Director or above leadership experience in procurement, sourcing, or manufacturing, New Product Development, and sourcing from international partners required with demonstrated progressive advancement.  Experience with SFG sourcing a plus.
  • 10+ years’ experience of managing project management/sourcing/operations professionals and actively collaborate with other functions and stakeholders.
  • Ability to Travel (40-60%) required and have international conference calls with different time zone needs.
  • Track record of delivering stretch results and driving change.
  • Demonstrated Leadership – Established leadership networking skills at a senior leadership level in a complex global organization with a clear understanding of governance and delegation models. Very strong influencing and engagement skills are necessary, including the ability to be highly effective without direct lines of authority.
  • Communication – Strong communication and relationship management skills. Ability to manage conflict and/or high impact situations. Communication in written and presentation forms must be excellent.
  • History of substantial and progressively responsible senior Product Development/Procurement leadership roles.
  • World class negotiation, advanced sourcing, relationship management and supply base management skills.
  • Strategic mindset with strong commercial, financial, and business analytical acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.


 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Baby Gear Products industry experience
  • Sourced Finished Goods Sourcing Experience
  • Bilingual – Fluent in English, Mandarin a plus
