Description
The Marketing Manager is an integral member of the broader Marketing team for the Marmot and ExOfficio brands, supporting the Newell Brands Technical Apparel business (NBTA). This role assists and supports the Director of Marketing and the extended team with leading, coordinating, executing, and managing marketing activities primarily related to photography and video to support the successful implementation of seasonal initiatives, campaigns and brand activations.
This position will act as an essential partner to help plan and activate content creation for both Marmot and ExOfficio. This manager is a true brand champion and ensures brand visuals are attention grabbing and disruptive but consistent with the brand strategy and direction. The Marketing Manager is a hands-on contributor, helping develop and manage tools as well as processes to ensure successful implementations and reporting on results.
This position requires moderate travel, about 20%. Some trips are outside the local area and overnight.
Responsibilities:
- Primary
- Collaborates with the Director and VP to develop and drive innovative photo & video solutions for seasonal campaigns
- Participates in the planning processes to help create a fully integrated marketing plan and programming for both sell-in and sell-thru utilizing upper funnel and lower funnel tactics.
- Ensures that solutions connect with the consumer and result in a consistent brand message across all channels.
- Briefs internal and external partners on photo and video needs tied back to communication objectives, advertising, and media plans.
- Leads seasonal activations (including developing processes) for key activities including:
- Photoshoot coordination and management
- Coordinates with Marketing/Retail/Merchandising/Wholesale to determine image needs.
- Manages timelines, budgets and deadlines, and guidelines for all studio and lifestyle photography.
- Develops shotlist and outfitting recommendations and is a key liaison in between marketing, merchandising, creative leads and agency partners.
- Onsite brand lead speaking on behalf of merchandising, marketing and creative at photo and video shoots
- Oversees the uploading and tagging of all photo/video content and packages up materials to share with cross functional partners
- Supports Organic Social Media Strategy to help develop on brand content for editorial calendar.
- Photoshoot coordination and management
- Understands ROI analysis on projects and tracks projects’ key performance indicators.
- Maintains and updates the marketing calendar with photo/video specific line items in the Go-To-Market calendar.
- Photo/video budget management, including vendor set up and purchase order/invoice processing and tracking
- Collaborates with the Director and VP to develop and drive innovative photo & video solutions for seasonal campaigns

- Utilize graphic design skills to lead the development of sell-in tools and adhoc projects
- Activities include the development of print materials such as banners, in-store signage, catalogs, etc. as well as digital assets such as social and digital posts, banners, etc.

Key Qualifications:
- Four-year degree in marketing, business, communications or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5-7 years of professional experience, preferably working in apparel
- Strong knowledge and passion for outdoor activities and travel (IE: hiking, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, camping, etc.)
- Experience creating shotlists and executing studio and lifestyle photo and video shoots
- Including working with agencies, talent, cross functional partners, etc.
- Graphic design experience, working with brand communications through both digital and print executions is a plus
- Self-starter who brings a level of passion, enthusiasm, and focus to their day-to-day work and who can exercise independent judgement and decision-making skills
- Strong project management skills; experience managing complex projects with extensive lead times and unknown variables
- Proven ability to work on and lead a cross-functional team and manage priorities to accomplish multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines
- Proven track record of building relationships with internal and external partners across various integrated marketing initiatives
- Strong business and marketing acumen and analytical skills. Knows how to develop key performance indicators to assess marketing investment that leads to conversion.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft programs, particularly MS Excel spreadsheets, Word and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop a plus
- Experience photographing apparel to use for PDP imagery on talent, flat lays or on mannequin a plus
- Practical knowledge of other functions such as sourcing, design, production, sales, and merchandising preferred
The California base pay range for this position is from $133,675 to $163,425. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.
