Your Role & Team in a Nutshell

As a Project Engineer, you’ll lead the design and development of new products for Coleman such as tents, shelters, soft coolers, kayaks, etc., ensuring they meet performance, cost, and quality targets. You’ll be part of a dynamic R&D team, collaborating with experts across departments and working closely with international partners. Based in France, you’ll manage projects from concept to production start, while also supporting and improving existing product lines.

Your Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Design and develop new products based on marketing requirements
  • Manage projects through all NPD phases until production start
  • Create and maintain technical documentation: drawings, specs, BOMs, test reports
  • Collaborate with internal teams like Marketing, Sourcing, Quality, and Manufacturing
  • Validate prototypes and ensure compliance with internal and external standards
  • Lead project planning: schedules, issue logs, action plans, and reviews
  • Support Sales & Marketing with samples, meetings, and product presentations
  • Handle design updates using tools like SAP, Windchill, and Precision
  • Adapt designs to meet cost and margin targets
  • Follow ISO 9001 processes across all activities

 

You’ll interact with internal teams across departments and external partners including vendors, labs, and design agencies. Expect 10–20% travel, both domestic and international.

 

 

What You’ll Need

Minimum:

  • Engineering degree in a relevant field
  • Fluent English (spoken and written)
  • 3+ years in product design and development
  • 3+ years in manufacturing (Asia experience preferred)
  • Strong project management skills
